*Update for 2022-2023 Season
  -

The scorecards is an evaluation result of the systematic implementation project as specified in methodology and footballer evalution result (The Footballers Evaluation Result). This result is the last update version of Positional Hall of Fame (Major Hall). The main procedures of implementation is specified as following
  1. Referenced/Determine Rating of player by competition and by season or tournament.
  2. Input the raw rating data into calculation system
  3. Calculate participation amount and loss ratio
  4. Determine the primary proportion of competition levels based on actual participation
  5. Final adjustment of proportion
  6. Calculate Bonus and Conditional Margin
  7. Review/Revise the evaluation result

However, the raw rating has never been completely available and surmise based on involved evidences is permitted. Here shows only final result since the database of calculation is too large and if anyone would like to check the database of calculation by competition level and by player, please contact me. The new evidence or support article is always welcome.

  1. How can Iniesta and Hagi have the same cond. margin when hagi has higher peak and ability and they have the same lowest stats? I think it's a mistake.

    1. As aforementioned, 0.1 is not significantly different.
Note that I have change the rule. If total point is not significantly different. Peak will be judged. Secondary criteria will be basic point.

    2. Following this rule, Thuram would have to be in front of Vogts? His peak is higher but he is 0.2 points lower in Final Score.
And when you say "secondary criteria will be basic point" means "only the Basic Total Score" or "the Basic Total Score + the Bonus Point"?

    3. 0.2 is significant value. Basic score as show in the table isn't include bonus.

  4. OK, everything have been completed. Now I can't wait for an update of Position Hall of Fame and these player's profiles. The controversy is inevitable for some positions but I hope to see how Messi and Ronaldo 's scorecard will be when this season end up.

    1. Didier Drogba is the logical choice, but Owen is certainly not. Wilimowski certainly deserves his place, and probably Langara. Stuhlfauth was a great goalkeeper. Glaser was even greater. Van Beveren was a level below Stuhlfauth and Glaser. And Zeman was certainly better than Van Beveren. I support the choice of Beckham and Suarez. Big players. Vierchowod I think is insane choice. Khurtisilava was certainly better. And they were also Costacurta and Morten Olsen. Puyol was incomparably better. For S
oane and specially Garcia looks normal. This is my personal opinion.

    2. Before I make the list, Owen is not included in top 50 striker. I understand his relative short prime. Langara is actually ahead of him, please check. Wilimowski played too few matches in the first tier league. His prolific scores > 550 goals mostly creates in German regional division during World-War II. He was a phenomenon scorer in World Cup against Brazil but appear only one match.
Why do you think Glaser is that great ? I admit to name him previously because Croatian expert confirm me about his great status from the old magazine evidence. But when I check his career, he did have a greater conceding record in international career than average.
Zeman’s career was highly impacted but his injury and his conceding record is relatively too high when compare with goalkeepers in the same era.
Khurtsilava is a better player in overall skill and I’m not doubt on this point but this list is primarily evaluated by performance in overall career so consistency become one of the most important factors. Khurtsilava was also impacted by injury which lead to short prime career.

    3. Franjo Glaser (January 13, 1913 in Sarajevo, Austria-Hungary – March 1, 2003 in Zagreb, Croatia) was a Croatian football goalkeeper and football manager, who made his name in Građanski Zagreb.

One of the best Yugoslavian goalkeepers in history and at his time Glaser was known as one of the best goalkeepers in the world. There were three: Ricardo Zamora, František Plánička & Franjo Glaser. In addition, he is only Yugoslavian footballer who won Yugoslavian championship (before and after WWII) in all three clubs where he played: Beogradski sport klub (BSK Belgrade) - twice, Građanski Zagreb – once and Partizan Belgrade – once. According to his own career records, between 1933 and 1949 Glaser played 1225 games in total!

Renowned for wearing a cap (always) and not wearing gloves, Glaser was never substituted and saved 73 out of 94 penalties. In addition when he took a penalty, he never missed. He got the nickname 'Iron Fist', by punching the balls sent from a corner all the way over the center line of the field.

Glaser was born in Osijek where he started play for the local club NK Slavija at the age of 15. Then he moved to NK Hajduk Sarajevo and Concordia Zagreb before joining BSK Belgrade during his military service. In fall of 1933 until January 1937 (during his military service), he played 269 games for Beogradski sport klub (BSK Belgrade) and won Championships (1934/35, 1935/36). In that period, Franjo Glaser played 13 games for Belgrade city selection.

Then he moved to Zagreb (from January 1937 until May 1945) where he played for Građanski Zagreb and acquired almost a legendary status. For Građanski, Franjo recorded 623 games (1937-45), winning Yugoslav championship in 1937. and 1940. as well as the Croatian championship in 1943. and 1 Cup (1941). For Zagreb city selection Franjo Glaser played 41 games.

He was member of Partizan Belgrade from club establishment until August 1947. Glaser recorded 91 games for Partizan winning one championship in 1947. After short episode in Partizan, Franjo went to Split where he coached and played for NK Mornar (played in 84 games) till 1949. when he retire from football.

He played 35 matches for ex-Yugoslavia (1933-40). For Croatia Glaser played 11 matches (1940-44) and scored five goals.

    4. May i ask in wich part of game, Vierchowod is better than Costacurta?

      Delete
    5. Vierchowod is faster which is very advantageous for the final sweeping. I like Costacurta but he is much slower although he has a greater position and marking.

I also check media rating, Vierchowod get higher peak and also more consistent in overall career.

    6. I read this article of Glaser for a long time but I am really not sure about its origin source as people could overrate him.

  9. Figueroa was the best defender of history. You work, is very good, but this calculation is need recheck. Figueroa for individual award, was the best defender of history, never the 10. Maybe you need to add the cateroría of "individual awards", because your analysis is about individual players and not of the collective of a team. Also, the "individual awards" It involves the expert opinion of the time in your context.

  10. I found a error in this Offensive Midfielder list. By his peak and basic score, Haller has to be the number 34, Orth 35, Rocha 36 and Pirlo 37.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Vogts has to be in front of Djalma Santos? Djalma have 78.4 final score and Vogts have 78.3 final score, both have A+ hight perform state and A- low perform state. But Vogts has 77.5 basic score and Djalma 77.2 basic score.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Please wait. Now I'm reset the proportional criteria of international competition which would help players to get less effect from limited opportunity.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Which player do you think had a highest peak performance: Thuram or Carlos Alberto? I think that Thuram performance in 1998 was the highest performance I've seen in a right-back, but I want to hear your opinion.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Thuram in 1998 is even the best France player ahead of Zidane and that means he conducts the most impact on the champion of France as he abnormally scored twice goals in that tournament and he never scored in other games his NT career. Carlos Alberto is a greater playmaker but his defensive ability is far inferior to Thuram. In national team tournament, I’d go for Thuram.
In club level, Thuram obtain around 6.7 rating in the 1996 – 1997 series A season which is the highest rate for defender in history of awards. Note that the season with Parma, Thuram mostly stayed at defensive line. There is no rating evidence found for Carlos Alberto at his peak at club career between 1968 – 1970 (his most successful season with Santos is 1968). As Brazilian football always emphasis offensive strategy, his inferior defensive coverage is not much effect on his performance. In this case is just similar to compare Matthias Sammer and Franco Baresi. But at the peak, Sammer still get favor for his indispensable centralized role. I’d prefer Carlos Alberto in club career as Thuram became rare in supporting attacking game in club career.

  14. Dear, Readers

    Now the important revision has been completed in details as below ;

    1) The previous proportion consider = or > 90 % of participation standard of international competition is regarded as the given maximum proportion. However, I abolish this condition and participation amount is calculated based on actual participation to help players with limited opportunity get less effects from low point.

    2) Minimum point if international competition has been re-set. Players with lower point than standard table of mutual competition level performance, will be eligible to obtain more point which is also limited by their performance in each competition. By this method, it help to control level of players who had limited opportunity in international competition.

  15. It's Neuer, not Nauer.

  16. In your opinion, what years are considered Nílton Santos' peak? And who has a higher peak performance, Nílton Santos or Andreas Brehme?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I have watched a few videos of Nilton Santos primarily in international country career so I’m not in the best position to determine his peak year. However, Nilton Santos was not selected in all stars team of the 1954 world cup and the 1957 Copa America where Djalma made it. Although the peak years of player is unnecessary to coincide with the team achievement especially for defensive players, the failure of Botafogo in Campeonato Carioca in 1952, 1954, 1955 at below top four in such state championship marks his difficult period during his career. Highlight of his career is definitely existed in the second half 1950s (1956 – 1958) when he was one of the top players in the 1958 World Cup and his mutual success with Botafogo. In 1959, he was capped only twice from total 14 official matches and it is too difficult to count this year as one of his peak seasons.
Nilton Santos was a great wing-player but his role was not an extreme attacker likes Roberto Carlos as he was fully responsible in three defenders-line. In comparison to Brehme, Nilton is surely a better defensive coverage as Brehme was a natural side-defensive midfielder. By offensive quality, Brehme conducts more accurate crossing and is a superior creative player while Nilton is a great technical player and dribbler. For all that, I see Brehme is more impact on his team’s ball possession and productivity than Nilton thanks for his assists and the great understanding of the tactic. I’d go for Brehme in the peak (but is relatively short).

  19. I found a few errors. Meazza has to be in front of Moreno. Meredith has to be in front of Conti. Janes in front of Shesternev. Dasaev below Mazurkiewicz, Jennings and Van Der Sar maybe? Zenga in front of Pfaff and Planicka maybe (same final score and same AA- high perform but his low perform is higher, his basic score is lower but only by 0.1, I don't know if that counts)? I hope this helps.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. OK, I have revised. I forgot to re-implement Moreno based on new criteria. 0.1 is not significant value in any comparison. But still, Zenga must be ahead of Marie-Pfaff.

      Delete
    2. Janes in front of Shesternev because he has a higher peak performance.
Zenga not in front of Planicka? They are practically the same in all aspects except in "Low Perform State", where Zenga has A- and Planicka has B+.

    3. You're right. I need to revise again.

    4. I checked again and I think I found another mistakes:
-Ardiles has to be in front of Keane and Davids because of his higher peak.
-Souness in front of Toninho because of his higher basic score.
-Ribery first, then Hamrin (because Ribery has a higher international performance), then Czibor (because of his lower Low Perform State) and finally Orsi.
-Robben in front of Johnstone and Giggs because of his higher basic score.
-Rahn in front of Loustau because he has a higher peak.
-Cafu in front of Santamaria because he has a higher basic score.
-Hierro in front of Wright because he has best international performance.
-Clemence in front of Zubizarreta because he has a higher peak.
-Van Beveren in front of Leao because he has has higher skill and higher Low Perform State.

      Delete
    5. Ok thanks for help. You are correct on Ardiles as the rule of league comparison.

      Delete
    6. As I check case of Wright vs Hierro, it let me set the more criteia. In case of comparison between one and two international participation, the one participant can beat the two if the point is more than both of them. In case more than only one, the difference between them will be compared.

      Delete
    7. As I check case of Wright vs Hierro, it let me set the more criteia. In case of comparison between one and two international participation, the one participant can beat the two if the point is more than both of them. In case more than only one, the difference between them will be compared.

      Delete
    8. I'm not sure if I understood you correctly. In this case Hierro has to be in front of Wright?
Wright = 33.5 points for international competition
      Hierro = 16.7+25.4 = 42.1 points for international competition

      Delete
    9. It is not directly compared like that because they have different proportion. So let see in percent. Wight get 76.2 more than both of Hierro (75.8 and 74.7). If I assume Hierro’s international club point is at 77, the difference will be compared between (77 – 76.2 = 0.8) and (76.2 – 74.7 = 1.5) and it can see Wright’s margin is still better in example.

      Delete
    10. Ok, now I understand. Thanks for your clarification.

  24. Souness still has to be in front of Toninho because of his higher basic score. And you forget to indicate the type of bonus of Djalma Santos (I think that is Age Bonus).

  27. Don't you think that Robben deserves AA in his High Perform State? In the last World Cup he was almost unstoppable. He also has excellent matches with Bayern Munich in recent years. You put an AA to Figo who, in my opinion, was not better than Robben in terms of High Perform State, at least at the same level.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Figo in the peak was not only a great dribbler and creator but also prolific scorer and won FIFA World Player of the Year. Robben is just quicker

      Delete
    2. Ok. And what you think about Cannavaro? In my opinion, he deserves AA- in High Perform State, at the same level as Nesta. His performance was amazing at the World Cup 2006, he was a human wall.

      Delete
    3. He was better than Nesta in international country career but the peak is considered based on domestic career also. Cannavaro is as tough as Nesta in the peak but he was not capable to set the game in an usual manner as lacking of technique. He often kick the ball without destination.

      Delete
    4. I have another question for you. If you have to make a ranking about the peak performances of Chumpitaz, Domingos Da Guia and Santamaría, how would it be? I saw that you put Santamaría in the eight place in "The Greatest Pure Defensive Performers Ever" list.

      Delete
    5. I always includes technical ability in peak performance. Santamaria is clearly inferior to other two. Historically, I had prefer choose Domingos Da Guia when he performed an incredible standard of era that defensive players were much less developed than nowadays. However, he was too limited in international opportunity to be ranked higher than Chumpitaz in overall career performance.

      Delete
    6. I understand. And for you who was the best and the worst in defensive skills only? Santamaría was the best and Da Guia the worst?

      Delete
    7. I think so. Santamaria was very tough marker. Da Guia would be fit to advanced sweeper role in the next eras. He is not known as an extreme defensive-minded player. Chumpitaz was very tough but he was not great in aerial game.

      Delete
  28. Why did Charles receive 2 points historical bonus? Billy Meredith has only 0.7 for historical and age bonus and I think that he should have way more.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The historical bonus is given to 1) Player who has an remarkable role in turning his team's history. 2) The iconic player who has an influential characteristic on the pitch. Charles is given bonus at 0.8 point as the most influential player to turn Wales history to qualify for the World Cup final as the only time in history and by 1.2 point for the second item.

Meredith is given bonus for the second item just 0.3 point. He was an outstanding player but not as influential as Charles and not got to specially turn history with his clubs.

  35. In Argentina there is an eternal debate: Who was better? Fillol or Carrizo? I saw that you put a B+ for Fillol and an A- for Carrizo in Total Skill (maybe because of the "sweeper-keeper" abilities implemented by Carrizo?). But, in your opinion, who had a higher peak performance?

    ReplyDelete

Also I'm interested as to how matthaus has ended with such a high score. I mean he was a wonderful leader and a great force but I'd never considered him as talented as xavi or Andrade

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. This topic of discussion is quite popular to this list. I see Matthaus is limited in talent and he was one of top players in the world just 3 years. However, he sustain his consistent career phenomenally and his complete ability is also noteworthy exceptional. Xavi is more talent but he is really a teamwork player. I mean he always need a effective offensive players in front him since he could not go advance well and his defensive ability is average.

  43. I am a huge fan of your work, I have tons of positive things to say about it and only one criticism. You severely underrated players from last 10-15 years. Attacking players are slightly underrated but defensive players are hugely underrated, no active defender is in top 50 defenders and that's a disgrace. No Terry, Vidic, Alves or Ramos (who is ranked as 82. center back by you!!). I honestly don't know why you disrespect them that much when they are arguably better than defenders of yesterday because of physical fitness and much better defensive schemes.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi, you could see most of defenders appeared in top 50 possesses some impressive technique with great defensive qualification. Terry and Vidic was very tough, strong with accurate tackling but they played against weaker attackers in the modern era than the past so their performance could be limited and also both of them rather has a short prime if compare to the others, Daniel Alves and Sergio Ramos are not great enough in defensive quality. However, I'm improving the list of the 9 x 100 positional ranking list and will consider these players if they have been underrated.

      Delete
    2. See, you always say that thing about "weak era" but do you have anything to back it up? Why are attackers of the past better?

      Delete
    3. In the modern era football, the average of players ability is increased as a result of physical and tactic development while the top level players are also reduced in average number. Rare attackers came close to Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the last decade. You can see many nations have no great successor and the most obvious choices are Eastern European nations, Netherlands, Italy, Germany, England, etc.

The fact that football in modern era is more emphasis in tactic than the past. Defenders are also more facilitated with the effective defensive system while defenders needed more individual ability to intercept the opponents.
Vidic was dominant enough in defensive line and his longevity is a main problem. Terry made a rare mistake and very reliable but limited in his sweeping role that most of situations are not too difficult for him because Chelsea always packed its condensed-defensive. In 1-to-1 battle against great technical and fast player, he was really not outstanding.

      Delete
    4. Ok, I respect those arguments but I think that it's so much that there are not many great attackers, it's just that Messi and Ronaldo are so much above everybody else. If Messi and Ronaldo weren't here others would be held in higher regard. I also think that Messi and Ronaldo are a bit underrated by you but not by much.

Do you think you could provide maybe a top1000 list ?

    Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  53. Thanks for your compliment. As compare players in different position is more inaccurate than same position, I think 100 ranks is enough for now. Anyway, you can roughly determine top 500 players from scorecard here.

    ReplyDelete

    1. I have tried to mix football player evaluation and 9x100 list. This way, especially when a player appears as playmaker in 9x100 list and central midfield here, I can merge and be accurate. But like this I manage to classify more or less accurately around 50 players I have seen but I miss score people closed to reach such as Terry, Stam, Campbell, Vidic, Lucio, Puyol, T.Silva, S.Ramos, Ayala, T.Adams, R.Ferdinand, Kompany, Gamarra, Mihaljovic, Carvallho, Hummels ... Lizarazu ... Guardiola, Makekelele, Emerson, Deschamps, Essien, Dunga, Swcheinsteiger, M.Silva, Simeone, Busquets, Cambiasso...

I will stop here but what is hard is to mix categories as you did the football top evaluation.

Do you see what I try do? I would like be able to do a clissifcation unified of all the player I have seen in your 9x100 list which is the same to have the entire score card of all player in the 9x100 list

    1. When football has become more tactical and systematical, players are more more restricted to the strategy and the average ability of players have been gone up but less in top-class group.

    2. Maybe world class would be a better term than top class, i have heard top class many times in reference to players who are not quite world class. I think Man City are a good example, Kevin De Bruyne is a world class player but this season Man city are performing better with Bernardo Silva who is an international class level player. Also the winger position has become very representative of this trend as there are a lot of international class level wingers but the only world class wingers right now are a salah who is more of a wing-forward, mane, mbappe and arguably sterling and sancho.

    - In international country, he was part of 3 success in UCL
    2005-2006: Scored in final, r8, r16
    2008-2009: Scored in final, r8, r16
2009-2010: Palying on the side used in a more defensive role, assist in final. Scored in r16
2009-2010: used in a more attacking way he has scored 8 goals and assited 5 times in 10 games
18.4 less than shevchenko 19.7 that didn't contribute that much in his only winning UCL but had a great performance with dynamo
    - In domestic football :
During his years in mallorca he was a key player, to reach UCL and Europa league.
He was considered as one of the best attacker of la liga and that's why he was chosen by Barcelona
In barcelona he has been a great striker for several years contributing to a great Barcelona Era.
I think reviewing the mallorca year may improve the rating.
It's just like when lineker or Keegan are playing for inferior team.
    - In international country despite he has won 2 CAN he gets less than Drogba.
But sccesses maake a great player

In my opinion he is a greater international club player and a greater player.
    Some of his footage :

73.3 less than shevchenko 78.9 that didn't contribute that much in his only winning UCL

      But if I sum up:
If you are considering that much boca junior for player like riquelme you must also take into account mallorca time for etoo which may improve his domestic rating
For international club there is something weird being an important player of 3 wins in UCL must get more points in my point of view.

    2. I hope you can take time to reply about etoo, and I was not too confused.

  79. In my opinion you take too much into account libertadores in your international club ranking for Riquelme because the libertadores he was part is for sure not at the same level it was before. Riquelme has only one UCL where he reaches round of 4. This is really poor. For example how can you consider he was greater than Kaka... just Amazing in UCL during his years in Milan.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Well, I give weight of Copa Libertadores in 2000s in less weight than UCL at 0.7 : 1. Anyway Boca Juniors under Riquelme also proved the great performance in intercontinental club. I want to give a chance for the club in less competitive league if they are eventually able to be the world champion, they're deserved a high credit.

      Delete
    2. But intercontinental club, a bit like confederation cup is more or less seen like a friendly competition in my opinion. I mean I am convinced european team are not playing as if it was UCL. They are more thinking to not get any injury because they have the UCL to play or a domestic competition to win.

  80. I would be interesting to have the performance evaluation of benzema. He probably misses because of international country but we can not say Cantona was much better than him at this level. He is 68 in the 9x100 list of forward. Esepciall the level of playing in domestic ranking and UCL season by season, at least the best ones.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Eric Cantona has been the most arguable players to be named in top 50. For his individual performance alone is just not enough but he is given historical bonus as one of the most impactful players in history of Man Utd. As a forerunner of Man Utd in its early stage of glory year.

      Delete
    2. I think the problem with Cantona's individual performance is that he does not have enough longevity because he retired early and peaked when he got to Manchester United. Bebeto has a lower peak performance state than Cantona but he is ranked above him because he has more longevity in his career at the high level.

      Delete
  81. Regarding Benzema i think he is one of those players who suffer from playing in a team full of stars regarding his UCL performance and he has had some of his best domestic seasons in the past few years after La Liga's quality dropped. I think he could qualify in the future but he is likely stil far away. Maybe he is in the reserve list or close to qualifying for it.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. In rating, he was at the boundary between international-class and world-class in related two seasons. For my eyes, I think he has never materialized world-class performance. He is neither a prolific scorer or assister or a high technical approach.

      Delete
    2. So Benzema is a player who would need several more qualified seasons or does he need a world class peak performance state to reach the top 50? The likes of Griezmann and Salah might be better candidates than Benzema in the future because i think they have reached a world class peak performance state.

      Delete
  82. I have to say i am a bit confused by the conditional margins in the forward list. For example Messi's low performance state is A minus and Pele's low performance state is A and yet Messi has a lower conditional margin even though their high performance state is identical.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. A- is lower than A in grade. Why do you think Messi should get higher point ?

      Delete
    2. I am not saying that Messi should get an higher point. As you said A minus is lower than A and i thought the conditional margin reflected the margin between high and low performance state so i thought that Messi should have an higher conditional margin because his low performance is lower if it makes sense.

      Delete
    3. I read that the conditional margin is made up of the high performance state, low performance state and of the ability or skill rating and his purpose is to reduce variance but i am confused even after reading it again about how it is calculated and about its use. Is a lower conditional margin more advantageous for the purposes of the ranking or is it the opposite? I used to think the former was the case but maybe i got it all wrong. Thank you again for your work.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Defensive and offensive midfielder also seem to be more competitive.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Does B represent international class or national class? In the rating methodology B is described as anomalous performance.

    ReplyDelete
  88. I am curious about Owen's peak performance since he won the Ballon D'or. Was it that impressive or did the cup treble sway the voters?

    ReplyDelete
  89. I think you are underrating De Bruyne and overrating Modric, especially in domestic leagues. The contribution of Modric to attacking scheme of Real Madrid is very very poor. His best ability is to control the tempo of the match as well as defensive actions (pressing + interceptions + tackles). Meanwhile Kevin is good at passing + creating chances also has a decent contribution in Pep’s pressing system and they both play in the same position in 4-3-3 system. Maybe the poor tactics of Zidane or the team quality prevents Modric from doing his things but anyway stats still convince me that Kevin has much better domestic performance and Modric is just the same with Kroos, nothing more.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I think you are underrating Modric's contribution there and his ability to progress the ball and direct the game, the latter of which does not necessarily traslate in stats. Also De Bruyne does not have enough longevity domestically as he is often injured and City have not missed a beat in the league during their last title wins in 2019 and 2021 when De Bruyne was injured. De Bruyne is also a high risk high reward passer with a relatively underwhelming passing percentage, which is a potential liability defensively, while Modric has a nice amount of stamina especially for his age. You sound somewhat bitter for Modric's Ballon D'or's win which was arguably underserved but the voters were sick of Messi and Ronaldo had rape allegations in the mind of the voters. Also some of the individual awards that De Bruyne won in the past two years could be argued to be equally underserved and related to De Bruyne's profile as the EPL and City's best player. De Bruyne has the potential to surpass Modric but i think you are overrating his contribution. De Bruyne has a decent contribution in Guardiola's pressing system but some of his defensive stats as shown on FBref are not stellar and i believe that it is also because of De Bruyne's limitations in that regard and not only because of City lacking a pure nine that De Bruyne has been used as a false nine by Guardiola recently. I am not at all a fan of Kevin De Bruyne and i like Modric much more but it has to be said that while he is an unbelievable player some of the less positive aspects of his game are downplayed by the media.

    ReplyDelete
  91. De Bruyne's passing and defensive stats are not so underwhelming if he is regarded as an an attacking midfielder and not as a central midfielder but you are comparing him to Modric who is as a central midfielder. Also you can not compare Modric's level to Kroos's. Their performances for the national team tell a different story. Germany was dragged down in recent years by Loew's poor coaching so there is no particular blame on Kroos but Germany have far more individual quality than Croatia even though they still had the likes of Mandzukic and Rakitic at the 2018 world cup. Kroos also plays in a more offensive role than Modric and is more frequently benched for Real Madrid.

  92. I am a bit puzzled by how players that here have similar scores and are ranked in the same class are ranked in different classes when they are placed in their national teams' international legendary museum.

How is that Del Piero has a lower class for his national team than Cantona and Hazard has a lower rating Giggs for example?
Someone like Bruno Conti has a far greater contribution to his national team than David Beckham and is convincingly the greater player but when it comes to Del Piero versus Cantona and Giggs versus Hazard i do not get it.

I would like to praise you for your extraordinary work.
