inside or outside the penalty area. He was also very creative and was renowned for
his overhead-kick and back-heading and even got deep to midfield to win the ball from opponent. He was rated by kicker in 7.5 World-Class
seasons and also 7.5 seasons of international-class which is the second best
only to Beckenbauer. Note that his career was achieved the peak prior to the
Bundesliga era. According to German footballer of the year voting, he was

"O Baixinho" Romario the
greatest players in the World during the mid-90s, is one of the most prolific
goalscorers in history of the game. He scored more than 1,000 goals during his
career including unofficial matches. He is one of the greatest first touch
goal-getters of all-time, processed great shooting and dribbling technique.
While Romario was sometimes criticized for “Disappearing” during games, he
would then crop up and score one or more goals. A Master of Zen-like “no-play,”
He would let the action sweep around him until it was his time to strike. When
man-marked, He often stopped moving, reasoning that his marker’s natural
tendency was to move rather than stand still. After his markers moved, He was
off in the other direction for a pass or goal opportunity. Because of his
freedom style of attitude, He played for Barcelona for twice seasons and back
to play in Brazil in the rest of his career. Romario also finished in top ten World Soccer Player of the Year twice in the late 1980s. He holds the record most goals in a
single season in history Brazilian football league with 70 goals in 2000.
Romario is the second most prolific scorer in history of football only to Josef
Bican.

Marco Van Basten is the greatest striker in the World during the lately 1980s,
is the greatest striker in history of Italian Series A, is one of the most
completed strikers ever. He was two foots grace with close control, quick on
the turn and excellent in the air, He scored Spectacular goals for club and
country. He was best remembered with his winning goal in Euro 1988 final. He
shot from a seemingly impossible angle. The shear audacity and technique of
that strike showed his supreme class. Van Basten was very success in his career
with AC Milan despite playing in highest standard ever of the league due to
appearances of many World-Class defenders. On the other hand, Van Basten failed
to prove himself in World Cup tournament that he could not score even a goal. He played well in the 1992 UEFA Euro but failed to score once again. He was gotten big injury at age of 29 and decided to
retire in next two years. he was also voted 5th place in the 1991 FIFA World
Player of the Year. Van Basten was voted 8th, 9th and 12th the greatest

2000 World Football's Greatest Goalscorer of All Time
“Der Bomber” Gerd Muller is the greatest goalscorer in history of the game. He was the predominant center forward of the early 1970s. Deceptively quick and able to shoot with little waste motion. Muller was a nightmare for opposing goalkeepers, was the forerunner, whom given the slightest chance, could often find a way to put the ball in the goal. He was short, squat, awkward-looking and not notably fast; he never fit the conventional idea of a great footballer, but he had lethal acceleration over short distances, a remarkable aerial game, and uncanny goalscoring instincts. His short legs gave him a strangely low center of gravity, so he could turn quickly and with perfect balance in spaces and at speeds that would cause other players to fall over. He also had a knack of scoring in unlikely situations." There are seven seasons Muller could score more than 1.00 goal per game in average. Muller was rated by kicker just 4.5 world-class seasons and 5.5 international-class seasons, is considered to be underrated. Muller was also a top scorer in 1970 world cup qualifying round in UEFA zone and 1972 UEFA Euro qualification. According to German footballer of the year voting, he was German forward of the year six times and was named in Bundesliga team of the season five times. Muller made 56 Hat-Tricks in first level matchs totally, made seven hat-tricks for West Germany. Muller was rated 10th, 13th and 15th place greatest ever in France Football, IFFHS and World Soccer, respectively. He was also voted 5th the best player in history of World Cup by France Football.

“The Phenomenon” Ronaldo Luis Nazario De Lima is regarded as the one of the greatest prime's playing of all-time. He processed great ball control and dribbling skills combined with a powerful physique and could hold off most defenders, and prolific scoring ability. Ronaldo is the youngest player ever to win Ballon d’Or, as he was a world-class player since his 20 year olds. He was famous for his scoring a large number of goals by only his abilities as the one-man-show. On the other hand, The repeated big injury led him out of the game for two years. Paolo Rossi is the famous Italian
striker from The 1982 FIFA World Cup that he won every three important awards.
He was an average footballer in his club career. It was partially
because of his injury after his great years for Vicenza. He was out of games
for fully two seasons. On the other hand, He really born for big tournaments, won the ball in both World Cup especially his opportunism came at the
best time for Italy, and he was the most important role led Italy won World Cup
in 1982. His best game was match against Brazil that he did hat-trick. However, the 1982 Ballon D'or given to him has been considered as one of the least deserved in history of the awards because of his irregular domestic season. He was a
prototype speedy center-forward, able to penetrate at will and deadly in front
of goal, and was regarded as one of the greatest strikers in penalty box in his
prime. In his last three seasons in Italian Series A, He scored less than five
goals in league and finally decided to retire at age just 31 years old. Rossi also finished 5th place Ballon'Dor in 1978. He is
named in 11th FIFA World Cup Best player of all-time by France Football.

Tommy Lawton is one of the most
talent strikers in history of British football, the owner of arguably the most
distinctive head of hair during the war-time. In his prime, had everything
required of a centre-forward. A terrific shot with either of foot, strength and
accuracy with his head, the perfect physique, wonderful positional sense and a
quickness off the mark that was unexpected in one of his build. Lawton started
being a world-class striker since he was only 19 year olds, immediately won
English league top scorer consecutive two years. Regrettably, World War II departed
his career for six years and it stopped his story to become legend of the
world. Nevertheless, At his peak in the late 1940s, Lawton was the central
figure in the most celebrated of all England forward lines: Matthews, Mannion,
Mortensen and Finney supplied the chances, but Lawton was the undisputed
leader, the fulcrum, of the attack. ‘The lightest mover of any big man who
played football,' said Alex James.

"Spezi" Alfred Schaffer was the best striker in Europe during the second half 1910s, is one of the first professional footballers. He was a robust, technically savvy, intuitive, very clam and possesses the strong shot. Schaffer played 21 different clubs in five central European nations through his career, reached the peak performance with MTH Hungary where he remarkably scored 159 goals in only 84 games. In Germany with Nuremberg, he was unceremoniously titled as "The Football King". Shaffer did not scored many goals but most of them is decisive and wonderful. He was an elegant and smooth style of playing but known for his phlegmatic and avoid unnecessary waste of energy. Schaffer played for Hungary in the era of very limited opportunty, 14 of total 15 games were played against Austria as a friendly match and scored hat-tricks twice.

Fernando Peyroteo is the most prolific scorer in history of Portuguese domestic competition. He spent 12 seasons and 187 games to be all-time Portuguese League top scorer with 331 and incredible 52 hat-tricks. However, the standard of Portuguese Liga in his era is much inferior to the modern era as it was very higher in league goal ratio. He is also the soccer player with best rate of goal by game, had a two prime periods covers 83 games in five Portuguese liga seasons and incredibly made 2.00 goal ratio with 166 goals. In 1942, he made the Portuguese record highest scoring in a single game with 9 goals against Leca in Portuguese Liga, However, his goal stats in international was just in average. Peyroteo was one-of-kind player that was great in bulk force, he was a force of nature without anyone capable of stopping his tremendous physical power. Not only he was strong, he had a very strong shooting as well always making the keepers tremble upon his presence in the last 30 meters. He scored from everywhere and from heading too, he used physical advantage to gain position and then head towards the net. He was also very determined to win every game as he simple never gave up of tormenting the defenses. The best ratio of his seasonal league game is 2.45, scored 34 goals in only 14 games during the 1937 - 1938 season.

nice ranking, I like that you mention a lot of players from the first half of the 20th century.
ReplyDeleteFor the striker ranking I think that Joachim Streich would deserve a place among the top 100, having scored 53 goals in 98 games for the GDR national team and 229 goals in 378 club matches.
Thanks and Welcome. Joachim Streich is named in top 100 greatest strikers of all-time in another ranking (please see in the 10X100 positional ranking list). Anyway, I have to admit that I'm not an expert on Streich and I rate him in the same class as Bierhoff and Fischer.
DeleteI think Klinsmann is too high. His club career and ability is far inferior to Shearer, Eto'o and Vieri
ReplyDeleteKlinsmann was not a remarkable prolific scorer but his diverse styles of scoring is several times spectacular. He is more all-round striker than the names you mentions. Also, the media rating of individual performance shows he is significantly superior to them.
DeleteHow is he more all round? In terms of striker skills, Shearer and Vieri are very good a positioning, finishing, header and reactions. As well as this Klinsmann like Vieri and Shearer is not very good at passing and his technique is just average. In terms of abilities I would but it like this

I would say club career is considerably more important than international career and its not like Vieri and Shearer have bad international records. I suspect Klinsmann had plaudits during his time because he performed well in world cup. I always suspected that world cup would cause players to be inflated in greatness.
If you compared Klinsmann and Klose, who would you say has a better club career? It would be fair to say that Klinsmann has a worse international career. So how would you compare Klinsmann and Klose's cub career?
I think Papin is too high. He has a good French league career but the rest of his career is really dissapointing and his international record isn't that good
DeleteFor the Klinsmann post it was meant to be:
DeleteHeaders:
1. Vieri
2. Shearer
3. Klinsmann
4. Eto'o
Klinsmann is rated in four world-class seasons by kicker and as I saw him played, I could agree. Klinsmann was not much outstanding in his positional play but his speed, agility, ability to conduct the ball and exciting diverse scoring style. Shearer rarely conducted the ball by himself to get through defenders to finally shot because of his limited speed and technique. Shearer also played against many lower class defenders than Klinsmanns when English League during the mid-90s was still below top group. Vieri is also considered as an all-round player but he spent too long time to achieve as the top-class player (first caps at 24 years old).
DeleteFor me, Klose is slightly better than Klisnmann even Klose's method of scoring is considered in easier style but he is much more consistency in productivity. In club career, there is no competitive issue here. Klose in club career is rather poor and far from his NT performance.
I'd say it is difficult to rank the post-20th group. Papin-Law-Nistelrooy-Klinsmann-H.Sanchez. All of them has similarity of advantageous and disadvantageous point. I rate Papin higher than the others in favor of his higher peak especially his impressive impact in European Cup and as I checked, he scored more goals against grade B team than others. Nistelrooy's NT scoring record is more produced against grade C teams. Dennis Law got big injury in his 27 years old and he could not return his great performance again, missed important games in 1968 European Cup which Man Utd won champion, he also never played in major international tournament.
Hey, just started with the comments first before reading it upwards :) Klinsmann is very low on any skill level. I like the list, but you guys just stop and think that:
Delete1. we are talking about very very very very little difference between these great names. They all are very very very very good!
2. one must not judge a player just by statistics. There were/are great players that... They just seem like they know what they are doing on the pitch and that they are born for it and they love it, and it loves them... unfortunately such players had other problems outside the pitch like health, temper, politics, narcotics, mangers, club presidents/owners... I still remember watching a player like Djalminha in Deportivo La Coruña (1997-2004) and it was after I was already in love with "the new Romario in Barcelona" (Luis Nazario de Lima) and I remember thinking: Man! I Love this game!!!!
Hee was literally making other players cry!!! Especially when he was angry and in a bad mood! He made them cry, man!!! They could not get the ball of him!!!
But enough about him.
3. Klinsmann had very good statistics in the international team just because he played with geniuses behind and aside him!! If they weren't there he would be just another Ulf Kirsten. It was not any different in club level.. You must NEVER forget about the support players like Klinsmann have from their teammates. Of course Klose ist better than him... At least 4 times better in creating goals himself.
4. Klinsmann must be mentioned only as Germany's Inzaghi and nothing else. And Inzaghi ist not on the list... Even his brother Simone was a better Striker. But there is no one else in the world with the Positioning and Chance creating (taking defenders with him away from the ball) skills of Pipo Inzaghi. If There is a scale from 1 to 10 for this thing, Inzaghi will be a 15 and Klinsmann will be a 10 !!!
Very nice list. I am very interested to see the other positions and are there more than 2 bulgarian players in it :) LOL
Greetings from Bulgaria!
Momchil Makedonski
Dear, Makedonski
DeleteSorry to late reply as I'm quite busy. I think you have contributed some interesting idea. The main idea of yours would be Klinsmann's overrating. He was not a machine scorer but is known as an all-round skillful striker which differentiates him from the opportunitists likes Klose and Inzaghi.
The best Bulgarian players outside top 50 would be Asparuhov. I ever named him in FW list but he was finally excluded due to inconsistent profile.
ID personally say Klinsmann was far better positionally than he is at speed or technique. His technique and speed at not remarkable. Klinsmann only 20 goals season was in the premier league when Shearer scored 34 league goals. As for the post-20th group, id put it Law-Nistelrooy-Sanchez-Papin-Klinsmann. Id say Klinsmann was a distant 5 in that group. Id also Law had the best prime of the group.
ReplyDeleteDo you think that someone like David Trezeguet deserves to be ranked in this. He was brilliant for Monaco and Juventus. He wasn't exactly a 1 season wonder either. He was a consistent goalscorer from 1997-2010-11. I say 2010-11 because he scored 11 for Hercules in La Liga despite them getting relegated from La Liga and himself being past his prime.
ReplyDeleteAdditonally, for Juventus am I correct in thinking he didn't take penalties? This makes his goal-scoring record much better as a lot of goals would have been from open play in a league which is known for being defensive.
Now I’m making the goals statistical analysis for international country. I group the goals stats by opponent level (Grade A, B, C, D) and make it into formula calculation then multiply with Influential factor (players’ goals/team goals) and also multiply with tactic factor (depend on tactic in each era). Trezeguet is rated rather low among legendary striker for his NT scoring record because he scored too few goals when he played for top nation and most of his goals were against Grade C and D opponents. In club level, media rates him very low, I still think media underrate him and I rate him in one world-class domestic season. In overall, he is clearly inferior to the likes of Voller and Crespo in example.
DeleteThat's fine. I am a little biased as I loved him. Brilliant in the box. I sort of talk about him in the same way as RvN.
DeleteYour lists are superb. Love reading them.
Great list, you have done excellent job. I think as quite some time has passed since Ronaldo's retirement, he has began becoming the consensus choice as the greatest striker to ever play the game. I wouldn't hesitate putting him in the gold king class of yours. For me personally when we're talking 9s, the holly trinity is Ronaldo, Gerd Muller, Van Basten. Again great job on those lists.
ReplyDeleteIan Rush wow! What a great performer! He is really a fantastic Target Striker. I am happy to know about his great historical record & achievements because of which he is always awarded as one of the best soccer players of all time.
ReplyDeleteI have read your're posts as to why you rank Shearer so high up the list, and I don't think it holds water to be fair. But even if it did you cant always quantify greatness by the team he chooses to play for or the amount of goals he scored.
ReplyDeleteIf we did that shearer would be in the top 10, looking at it from a price perspective, he was the worlds most expensive player when Newcastle bought him, He wasn't the most expensive because he only barely made the top 50(sarcasm) Or the fact that he has scored 260 goals in one of the hardest leagues which is the record and no one is even close to coming near breaking it. the great Wayne Rooney is Light years behind, as is RVN, and Henry, and many others a lot of whom played more games than shearer too. he has a lifetime goals per game average of over 0.5. half the players on this list could only dream of that, and all this with a poor Newcastle team. I Don't support England or Newcastle But I am not retarded, Shearer should easily be in the top 20 If not the top 15. this is clear evidence of someone not knowing a clue what they are talking about, using mathematical equations to try tell you how good a player was, it is lunacy. He is also considered by the English themselves and voted as such, as their greatest ever striker, ahead of a myriad of other English strikers you have ranked much lower down the list than Shearer. my point is sometimes you need your head to judge these things not a bloody calculator.
As I have made scoring statistical analysis ( for many strikers, the trial result found that great players who played in smaller team would at least not had a inferior opportunity in scoring as they’re more centralized and dependent in the front-line and could compensate lower level of teammate. Not only refer to scoring number but also style of scoring. Shearer is inferior to many strikers in conducting the ball by himself to make score. Anyway, I still have not made Calculator in this blog yet (probably would make it in the future and just start to use in top 50 best player ever).
DeleteYeah! That’s a great list of famous football players. I never had before such a enlarge collection of those players. Many of those players are new to me like Rene Pontoni, Alan Shearer and I would love to read more about these players here.
ReplyDeleteWhere is Gerd Muller in "The Highest Striker's Peaks of All-Time"?
ReplyDeleteYes, he was omitted and now has been named in the ninth place,
DeleteAlso the total performance and total skill of Dixie Dean are omitted
DeleteVan Basten has a AA+ Peak Performance but he is behind Dixie Dean (AA Peak Performance) in "Highest Striker's Peaks".
DeleteOK, Update Dixie Dean's peak performance from AA to AA+
DeleteOne good addition would be best scorers ever. Considering all positions, not just strikers.
ReplyDelete
DeleteIt would be called as “The most effective scorers in football history” but I already name them in World Record and Statistics.
Ok, thanks.
DeleteDear, Readers
ReplyDeleteEusebio has been moved to Forward position and Alfred Shaffer is a new comer in this list.
where is john charles? he was the greatest defender & Striker in his era.
ReplyDeleteHe is named in honorable mention in top 50 best ever list. For only striker position, he has only four great seasons in top divisions. His first half career is wholly performed in second division.
DeleteWho are the players with best goals ever? Maybe your personal top 10 or 5, doesn't have to be in order. Feel free to name some players who are not exactly legends but have scored some spectacular goals. Thanks in advance.
ReplyDeleteSo?
DeleteAt the first thought, my top five would be Pele, Messi, Van Basten, Zico and Seeler.
DeleteI agree. And what about some less known players?
DeleteI understand you ask only style of shooting not count players who drib passed many players and scored the goal in easy way ? Florian Albert is surely made the list. He did not only possess the great fist touch but his volleying is just incredibly accurate and elegant. Luigi Riva is also very attractive shooter with an accurate volleying. Jose Altafini is impressive enough. His figure looked like a slow strong pillar but he had a great technique and considerable speed in moving pass the opponents and often made the decisive shot.
DeleteThank you very much! I didn't only think about shooting, also about dribbling, about everything. But these suggestions are good, thanks.
DeleteSome players you mentioned shouldn't even be considered amongst the top 500 most spectacular goalscorers ever , let alone top 5. Pele,Messi,VanBasten,Zico , yeah , those were outstanding.
DeleteBut compare the rest with the like of Le Tissier and they will look normal.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJwvMkboIbo
"Le God" was particularly known for scoring screamers on a regular besis.
Or who can make a top 3 most spectacular goal scorers w/o Cristiano Ronaldo?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mk_Pv8fqUz0
Even Ibrahimovic his a far faaar more spectacular goal scorer than the ones you mentioned(apart from the ones I agreed).
You mentioned Altafini and Rive but look at Raul Gonzalez.
You said Albert will surely make the list for dribbling goals but not Maradona , Ronaldinho or R9? I can easly make a top 10 dribbling goal scorers alone that will make Albert look average. Cruyff and George Best were also better if you want classics. I'm sorry but your post was totaly off.
How comes you didn't include Thierry Henry in your list or at least in special mention? In my opinion,he is in the same rank or slightly above Trezeguet,Inzagghi and Van Nistelrooy and also he is more accomplished in terms of skills, technique, variety of goals scored as well as assisting others.
ReplyDeletePlease find him in forward list where he is mentioned.
ReplyDeleteWhy is Dixie Dean Dean rated higher than Jimmy McGrory? McGrory is the greatest British striker of all time. Please please do not say that it was because Dean scored his goals in England and McGrory in Scotland, that is a foolish answer often used by uneducated historians
ReplyDeleteThe 1920s Scottish league was much stronger than later era as Scotland was one of the best football nations in the World but the standard of the league in term of difficulty of goalscoring productivity is not fully relevant and the average league goal per game in Scottish league is still higher than English league.
DeleteDixie Dean was not only make a phenomenon scoring record in the 1927 – 1928 with 60 goals but also no one in English football history came close his ratio and the stats is even deserved more praised of considered Everton did not dominate English domestic competition side in comparison to Celtic in Mcgrory’a era. There are also some of other Scottish players came close ratio to Macgrory’s highest seasonal goal ratios such as William Mcfadyen (52 goal), Duncan Walker (45 Goals).
Internationally, there was a limited games played at that time but Dixie Dean still get more chance than Mcgrory to play in friendly matches due to Scottish manager’s preference.
Outside the consideration of stats, Dixie Dean is described by article as an all-round striker who often beat defenders by his own speed and technique. For Mcgrory, he was described as a main finisher. With his limited height, he also would be struggle in taking advantage on aerial game.
Perhaps the reason the goal per game average was higher in Scotland than in England during that era is because there were more fantastic strikers playing in Scotland; McGrory, MacFadyen, Walker, William Devlin of Cowdenbeath and James Smith of Rangers all scoring high tally’s each season regularly throughout the 1920’s – 30’s.
ReplyDeleteCeltic did not dominate Scottish football the way you think they did in that era either, in fact from 1923 -37 which were the years McGrory was active with Celtic, Rangers won the League Title 12 times compared to Celtics 2. Yet McGrory’s scoring feats throughout this era still remain remarkable
McGrory scored 6 goals in & games for Scotland and would undoubtedly have scored many more had the selectors not chosen Hughie Gallagher instead of him so often.
I don’t know where you got your information that McGrory would struggle in the air, thus us nonsense as he is often regarded as one of the greatest UK aerial strikers ever, if you don’t believe me read this http://www.fifa.com/world-match-centre/news/newsid/131/992/8/index.html.
Jimmy McGrory was a phenomenon. The statistics show he scored more than a goal a game for a 15 year career which is remarkable, he was 1.68M yet managed to score almost 1/3 of his goals with his head, he could shoot, dribble, poach , was lightening quick and the ultimate poacher in and around the 6 yard box. His only crime was he didn’t play in England like so many other “superstars”. Perhaps if he had gone to Arsenal like Herbert Chapman had wanted him to he would be given much more appreciation than he gets.
OK, I am wrong in my wording use. I want to say that Celtic often played against inferior teams aside from Rangers who dominated the competition while Everton met more equal or even superior teams.
DeleteI'm not intend to say Mcgrory was limited in his heading ability and I had read he scored by head many goals but the fact of matter that he had a wider area to meet scores than later eras because tactical formation used only 2-3 defenders and also I can't imagine how he would beat top-class defenders to win the aerial battle by his 168 cm in nowadays.
Anyway, please wait for my final score of systematic implementation which would lead to some changes in ranking. It is still hard to rate him above Dixie Dean as a reason given.
Its true McGrory would have scored less goals in modern football, I agree totally but so would Deans, Kocsis, Pele, Fontaine etc. The point is McGrory had a better scoring record over a longer period of time against a similar standard of opposition than Deans had and therefore should be rated higher. He was better its simple
ReplyDeleteHugo Sanchez was just as good as Romario, he had much better club numbers, but yet he is in 25th and Romario in 4th. I think they should both be in the 7th to 10th area. You just cant ignore his 5 Pichichis, its absurd.
ReplyDeleteI’m not sure why you mention Hugo Sanchez has a better goal record than Romario when Romario has a better record in both collective goals and ratio goal per game.
DeleteWhy isn't John Charles in top 50, when he is 26th in the 9X100 rankings?
ReplyDeleteOh ! That is a great notification. Charles was omitted to calculate for his performance in forward part. I set criteria that players play across one function is allowed to be counted in both position such as Breitner, Junior and Zanetti. For player play across two functions likes Charles, one of them is not permitted to be included. As I calculate, he is even 15th strikers of all-time. So I need to add him and Owen would be out of the list.
DeleteYou have to put Owen in the substitution group.
DeleteYou put Ian Rush two times in the Queen Bronze class and you have omitted the class of George Weah.
ReplyDeleteDo you know anything about IFFHS player of the century voting? Like who voted by what system, anything. I can't find details about it anywhere.
ReplyDeleteRsssf just describes it was voted by journalists and former players. For more details, you may read this thread in Bigsoccer.com ; http://forums.bigsoccer.com/threads/iffhs-all-time-greatest-players-ranking.326907/
ReplyDeleteOk, thanks.
DeleteWell I dont like the idea of Ronaldo being the first since I think a lot of better players than him like Marco van Basten, Andriy Shevchenko, Just Fontain, George Weah, Romario, Lionel Messi and David Villa.
ReplyDeleteThe best strikers on my list are:
1. Marco Van Basten
2. Just Fontain
3. George Weah
4. Andriy Shevchenko
5. David Villa
6. Lionel Messi
7. Romario
8. Jurgen Klinsmann
9. Rudi Voller
10. Ronaldo
And you forget to mention David Villa because to me he is also one of the greatest player since he brought his country to win European Cup in 2008 and World Cup in 2010, he is also all time top scorer in Spain.
You are bias. Ronaldo Nazario is the best.
DeleteHe simply isn't
DeleteWhere is PREBEN ELKJAER?
ReplyDeleteHe is excellent in international country career but his prime in club career with Verona is too short. He spent six years without any remarkable profile with Lokeren (at least was never chosen in top 5 players of the year of the league).
DeleteHow is Messi's dribbling not A+. No excuse.
ReplyDeleteI find it hard to trust this site if Messi's dribbling and technique isn't an A+.
ReplyDelete..เลวานดอฟสกี้ ไปไหนอะครับ
ReplyDeleteยังไม่ติดท็อป 50 ครับ เพราะผลงานสะสมยังไม่ไม่เพียงพอ แต่อยู่ในท็อป 100
DeleteArsenio Erico must be N° 5, you do not underestimate South American football.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, it's a great job!
Do you know anywhere that lists the top scorer of the fa cup or copa del rey by season? Like this page does for the german cup https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_DFB-Pokal_top_scorers
ReplyDeleteEtoo only B in speed and slower than drogba B+ ? in my opinion etoo is more A-. What do you think ?
ReplyDeleteI agree to revise. Anyway, These skill ratings will be improved in the near future.
DeleteHello,
DeleteGreat ! Because I think you have the more serious website about ranking and positionning about football ! Keep on doing and updating it regularly. And if you need help people may help :)
Hello,
DeleteI also think, in some way etoo may be seen as forward and not only a striker
What do you think ?
Cheers,
P. G.
He is surely not a pure finisher but his ball control and assisting is also not good enough as a forward. I categorize Weah as a forward because his positional sense is too far from qualifying as striker.
DeleteWeah is forward in the 9x100 list but what does he remain striker here ?
DeleteAs it is different categorization, some players are ranked in overlapped position between the two lists. Weah is at the border between forward and striker so he is in this case.
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteWeah seems to be categorized as striker and not in forward :)
Cheers,
P.G.
I understand you mean he should be named in striker list in 9x100 positional ranking ? I think his positional movement and finishing skill is not great enough as a target striker. Although he played as a striker but his style of play is more fit to forward role.
ReplyDeleteThen why is he striker here ?
DeleteHere is 7 categories while another list is set as 9 categories. So here is larger gap within one category. Anyway it has not been a consensus when Weah is neither great assister or scorer.
DeleteIs Peyroteo's ratio of 2.45 goals per game in 34 the best all time for seasonal ratio?
ReplyDeleteJosef Bican achieved at 2.5 (50 Goals/20 Games in 39/40 season) is supposedly the best record.
DeleteVan nistelrooy is rated so high because of his striker skills ability ? I mean I don't understand why a player like Etoo is not ahead of him. Etoo is close to a forward in my opinion, same for Weah.
ReplyDeleteThere are too many seasons Eto'o played below average of international-class.
DeleteWhat do you think about Makaay, Higuain, Cavani ?
ReplyDeleteMakaay is far from the list since other seasons than his few peak seasons, is poor performance. Huguain and Cavani is now deficit around 1 international-class season and 1 international-class in major tournament.
DeleteWhat about Dzeko ?
DeleteInstead of ranking player for which I imagine we don't have nearly any materials except reputation. In this list I think about Petrone, Langara, Binder...
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be better to mention them outside of the ranking and put players for which we have enough materials : Lewandoski, Trezeguet, Suker...
"4 Times Uruguayan League Top Scorer"-PedroPetrone. Where did you get the top scorers before 1932
ReplyDeleteI found the top scorer status is really untraceable for now. If I successfully traced, I'll return to inform you.
DeleteCould higuain enter the top100 now ?
ReplyDeleteHiguain have been consistent for years
DeleteNot including Henry, who is arguably the best striker to ever play in the premier league, is a crime against football
ReplyDeleteHenry is ranked as forward and not striker.
DeleteIbra is ranked as forward and not striker.
DeleteWait, Zlatan is not in there as well...
ReplyDeleteThere appears to be a mistake in Joseph Bicans profile I highly doubt he could run 100 m in 10.2 seconds his Wikipedia article claims a more modest 10.8 seconds and the former would have been faster than the world record in the early part of Bicans career.
ReplyDeleteOK Thanks for special information. Sorry for late reply.
DeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteI discovered the movie, Romario play in FC Barcelona at UCL.

King regards
The amount of Brazil bias in this blog is astonishing. In no way is Ronaldo considered the best striker of all time. His very short peak and inconsistency(which many brazilian players suffer from) he surely can't be considered that great. Ger Müller destroys Ronaldo in goal scoring, which is what a freaking striker is supposed to do in the first place! Just because Ronaldo made some tricky things trying to get pas defenders??? well if he were that good at it, why didnt he score more goals??? it doesnt matter how many tricks he did, if he didn't score more goals than he did. The end product is what matters, and that is goals for a striker, and Müller was better at that. It's cool and all to look at highlight videos of brazilian attackers with all their tricks, but do you have any idea at all on how many times Neymar and Ronaldo lost the ball whilst trying to do these showboating skills??? it was A LOT! What the hell is Klinsmann doing at 16th place as well??? 254 goals in 566 games is not really that great either. I respect you as a person and your opinions, but you do know that a striker's job is to score as many goals as possible..right??? It seems to me like you didn't even see them play full matches, and that you purely base your rankings on highlight videos, which of course will always show the cool stuff a player can do, and not all the inconsistency and fails. If you watched Ronaldo back then you would know how many times he failed doing his tricks, compared to how many times they were actually successful.
ReplyDeleteI've done project of watching videos more than 220 matches so this is not really a point. Ronaldo has a short peak but his peak is classified in higher rank. Klinsmann is a more than scorer, he is an all-round forward could create many chances to his teammate and his positional movement is intelligent.
DeleteYou make no sense at all. Pretty much most experts consider Müller as the best striker of all time. Who would you want on your team the most? someone who scored over 700 career goals, or someone who scored under 400?? for christ sake, Ronaldo is not even on the RSSSF list of players with 500 or more goals, the list consists of 28 or so players, and he is NOT one of them. You can't possibly sit there and justify him being number 1 when so many other players scored more goals than him as a striker. You opinion of him being more technical and stuff doesn't matter when it apparently didn't work out for him that well, since he didn't even score that many goals. He can do all the tricks he want all day long, but as long as someone else like Müller might not be as flashy, but scores waaay more goals, then it doesn't matter how cool Ronaldo looks like. you say you watched 220 games with him? well did you notice how many times he lost the ball?? i hope you dont watch highlight videos only, cause they of course cut out the bad parts.
DeleteWell, Let understand losing the ball is one of very normal things in football games but we will focus only the scenes player lost ball mistakenly or extravagantly. When Ronaldo had gotten pass opponents 1 - 3 players and lost the ball, it is the same status as his teammates' passes to him were intercepted.
DeleteNumber of scores are undeniably important but I would give importance to Muller 100 % while 75 % to Ronaldo as they have different role. When you have Ronaldo in your team, sometimes you don't need teamwork and he could score by himself or made opponents trouble and lost their tactic.
Anyway, I rate them in very similar class. To cite Muller is better is by far acceptable as well.
That Anonymus guy doesnt seem to realize that Ronaldo suffered from carreer threatning injuries and missed several years in his prime and still scored over 400 goals.
DeleteWhat about Jose Aguas only 83th ? He scored a lot and important goals with Benfica. I would have expected to see him in top 50
ReplyDeleteHe has nothing special in national team. Even his best season in 1960 - 1961 that he scored 11 goals in European Cup as a top scorer, he is ranked only at 10th in Ballon'Dor. I think his scoring style is too smooth.
DeleteWhat's your opinion on inducting Luis Suarez? Man has been phenomenal for quite some time now. He went toe-to-toe with CR7.
ReplyDeleteHe is named in forward list.
DeleteIn my opinion L.Suarez has been decreasing after 2016-2017 season unable to make any differences or nearly big matches. Beaten in the deep, in the air and not a so good finisher than before...
Deletewhy isnt zlatan on this list
ReplyDeleteHe is named in forward list.
Deletewhy is zlatan a forward
DeleteWill lewandowski progress after this season ?
ReplyDeleteHello creator of this list. I can't see a name or a date. Is your name Naratorn?
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your hard work for this website.
I have a few questions if you would be able to kindly answer.
Firstly what year was this list of 50 best strikers created? And does it get updated over time?
What is the difference between a striker and a forward? I thought they would be the same.
And why is Pele not included at all in the list or even the honorable mentions?
Sorry if I haven't navigated the site well and missed some things.
I look forward to your response. Thank you.
I first created this series in 2010 and it has been updating in every half of season.
DeleteI made the definition of position at the top of each thread.
Pele is in forward list.
You seriously left out Thierry Henry....all time leading scorer for France, rightful winner to the 2004, 2006 balon d’or (I hate that award), greatest pl player ever....and you left him out. You even put Eto’o, van nistelroy and aguero. Help me
ReplyDeleteHe is belonged to forward list.
DeleteYou joking right theres no suarez in top 50
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteHello! Big fan AMAZING job keep walking. Now what about Haaland? He is very young I know. No silverware too. But! UCL goal numbers in comparison with R9 for example are of the charts. I am not suggesting he is better or he deserves a place to the podium or something but I believe he is already at least between the the top 100 ever. Your thoughts?
ReplyDeleteWhere is Ferenc Puskas?
ReplyDeleteHe is in the forward list.
DeleteI am pretty sure Etoo is a greater player than his ranking. His prime level in Barcelona and inter is world class (with succesfull achievements) in my opinion and he allowed mallorca to qualify for europeans Cups which is a great performance. Moreover he was great for Cameroon leading it in successful CAN victory.
ReplyDeleteAnd he has won 3 UCLs !! Not only 2 as you mention in the description being a key player.
DeleteI also think Eto'o deserved to be ranked higher, probably ahead of Weah and easily in top 20. He is one of the few players of the site that looks underrated and needs a review in my opinion.
DeleteI think it would be good to put a link towards the forward list at the begining to avoid the commentary where people are asking why a player is not here.
ReplyDeletehello naratorn, will you update the players' classification?
ReplyDeletei wonder if lewa is the in the same class with kocsis and seeler or one class down.
do you think it will be possible for lewa to reach top50?
I personally believe it is possible depending on Lewa's longevity.
DeleteThe update to Lewandowskis ranking is much deserved, Why is it that you consider Suarez and Henry forwards and not strikers?
ReplyDeleteHenry played as left-wing-forward at early and late career. His style of playing is reliant on speed throughout the opponents and made a considerable number of assists.
DeleteLuis Suarez is even narrower to forward list. He is less great in positional awareness than Henry.
I don't see Batistuta or Van Nistelrooy as so great striker. VNR wasn't that successfull at country level and couldn't make the difference in UCL when it counted. Batistuta misses international country games to be considered as great in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteBatistuta won a Copa America with Argentina. It took Argentina decades for them to win another international trophy despite having Messi. Batistuta was also a crucial player in Roma's scudetto win. Van Nistelroy had great individual quality but he had a style of play that made everything go through him and his teams relied on him way too much based on opinions i have read about him. I do not think he is overrated, you have players like Vieri who were even more underwhelming in making the difference in the top 50.
9 gare in 2 mondiali, 9 reti. Se non era decisivo lui...

DeleteWho were the players that could have made the reserved list right after Suker?
ReplyDeleteZlatan ibrahimovic is also one of the greatist striker of all time.......
ReplyDeleteHe is classified as a forward, i think Ibrahimovic is seen as a forward because of his positional sense and his assist numbers. He also used to spend a lot of time outside the penalty box and to drop deep to start dangerous moves and to take part in build up play when younger.
ReplyDeleteI saw an update on Etoo ranking. I can see in the description : "2 Times UEFA Champion League (2006, 2009), 2010 Runner-Up"
ReplyDeleteIt should be updated to : "3 Times UEFA Champion League (2006, 2009, 2010)"
Have you taken into account Etoo' was also a strong contributor for UCL 2010 with Inter ?
Sorry to insist but seeing Batistuta or Van Nistelrooy that high compared to him is really hard to figure out. Maybe Batistuta was playing in a small team during a competitive era as you said in another comment but van nistelrooy wasn't that good for netherlands, and in UCL he has scored but was not as decisive, which probably cost him to put on the bench to Louis Saha before his move to real madrid.
it is not a good list it do not have the goats and messi
ReplyDeleteGreat list, but you forgot Thierry Henry!!!
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, Klinsmann's ranking is a bit high. He was not particularly prolific (except in WC). I don't see him better than Van Nistelrooy, Law and is more comparable to his former teammate Voller.
ReplyDeleteGigi Riva top-5
ReplyDeleteEto o and Drogba are a bit low, especially compared to Lineker or Fontaine who had a short career. In addition, I agree with the comment above concerning Klinsmann : 17th is way too high. He wasnt that prolific and not very skillful as well. If I had to rank him, I would say between 30 and 40
ReplyDeleteI disagree with Kane being as high as he is, while his lack of a trophy can not deny his brilliance his failure to perform in finals should be taken into account.
