1950s
Matches Summary
1953 Match
of Century (Hungary VS England) : In England side, I mainly focus on Stanley
Matthews. He was already 40 years
old and is as slow as I expect. His acceleration and crossing was always
effective but his style of play was limited on the right-flank so he almost not
create any chance to score by himself.
Including the 1954 World Cup semi-final match, Sandor Kocsis was really a great
header but his jumping was not remarkably high mostly take advantage of
opponent by his positional sense. His technique in touching the passed ball is
disappointed anyway. In the 1954 World
Cup final. Aside from incomplete body condition of Ferenc Puskas, one of the
causes Hungary was beaten is Czibor’s unaccustomed position, an outside-right.
He missed the important goal in short distance by his inefficient right-foot.
In contrary, Helmut Rahn’s feet is equal. He moves inside and able to score by
his left-foot by powerful shot.
In 1957 FA Cup Final, I mainly focus on Duncan Edwards. He is
unparalleled strong in defense and possesses some technique. On the other hand,
most of his vision and passing scenes are failed. I note he made overpassing 4 times that all of them are either much misdirected or
overweight and let Man Utd concede ball possessions from total 6 times but he was still named in top five Ballon’Dor in that
year. In my country, I heard since I was young that he had enough potential to
be the greatest ever alongside Pele and Maradona is probably one of the most
overrated praises.
In related matches for Brazil 1958 and 1962, Djalma
Santos is impressive in only his technique, position and agility but
other than that is nothing to praise. He liked to pass inaccurate long ball and
even made a funny mistake when he tried to volley the ball forward to midfield
area but it is more than 90 degree
misdirected to his own dangerous penalty area. Djalma’s tackle scene is very
rare to see although he had many opportunities to intercept. He always liked to
cover his zone. His speed was also not relatively high and his reading ability
was also limited when I saw he couldn’t cut the inside-passed ball that was
actually reachable from his position. Nilton Santos always made an accurate
passing and great position but his balance is rather problematic and he did not
know how to tackle in the right position.
Regarding Brazil as the 1958 world cup winner. As I watched their style of play and
teamwork ability, I think they’re second to the 1970 team in overall particularly creativity and coordinative
compatibility but it is interesting what if Dino Sani, Cantoheiro and Altafini
were included in the first eleven regularly and strengthen the team level. In 1963 European Cup Final, Altafini’s playing is always entertained
to see. He should be one of the most complete strikers ever. Dino Sani played
well in normal level.
In 1958, Several times Just Fontaine lost the ball when he was
trying to get pass defenders by himself. He is really not a great dribbler but
his shooting is powerful with a great direction. Although France concede 5 goals, I don’t see any mistake of Robert Jonquet but he
might be a bit too slow.
The First Half 1960s Matches Summary – International Country
The 1960 Euro Final is the most boring match for me. I believe Soviet
Union would not win the title of all European nations participated. The games
is too inert. There are many big names to expect great performance but only
Sekularac and Metreveli are outstanding enough. Yashin had a few times to show
his ability. Netto always stays deep area and almost not went support offensive
game so I don’t see any technical ability of him. Mikhail Meskhi is nothing
special. Bora Kostic was a slow winger but consistently made an accurate long
pass.
I watch all knock-out games of
Brazil in 1962 World Cup. Garrincha is seen to
be a Man of the match for all. Aside from his phenomenon agile and fast
dribbler, He is unexpectedly a very good header and his left-foot is also
effective. In match against England, he failed to drib pass English players 3 times but compensate by his scoring important goals. Other
focus is Didi and Zito. Didi could be a perfect playmaker if he was not too
slow. Zito is aggressive, agile and faster than I expected.
One again Leonel Sanchez is
disappointed in 1962 World Cup third place match.
His bronze ball from retrospective rating by FIFA is not deserved. The Trio
“Galic-Skoblar-Sekularac” is kept an eye on. Galic is not qualified as he is
not good in games participation at all. Skoblar is complete but he was till
young and it was not his prime during the tournament. Sekularac is great in
technique but he too often try to take advantage of his body to shield the ball
because of his slow speed.
The 1964 Euro Final is much more entertained than the previous one.
Amancio and L.Suarez are an attractive players that were always agile and
elegant in technical implementation. Anyway, many times L.Suarez made an
inaccurate passing but he creates a ton of chances to his teammates as well.
For USSR team, the best one is Varely Voronin who was very good in box-to-box
role. He was strong and a great creator. Combined with the 1960 match, the most disappointed one is Valentine Ivanov who is
seen to be too slow and lack of creative idea.
The First Half 1960s Matches Summary – Club
In related two matches of
Tottenham, Danny Blanchflower as a talisman is seen to be weak in physical. He
is not fast, strong and not outstandingly agile. He is a main creative force of
Tottenham and also had a great ball interception. Dave Mackay is not only great
in defensive but also performs accurate long passing consistently. Regarding
Jimmy Greaves, he several times get down to deep-forward area to find the
chance of assist or shooting but I think his skill in this role is limited and
incomparable to his performance as a poacher. He is still categorized in
striker list although his position could fit to forward definition.
Uwe Seeler is also seen in two
matches. Hamburger at early 1960s has no
stars aside from him. Seeler is very aggressive, fast and great positioning.
His goal against Barcelona in 1961
European Cup semi-final is an unintentional shot from the edge of the field and
it is highly questionable about ability of Antonio Ramallets who not only
conceded this goal but there are also no scene to prove he is among the best
Spanish keeper ever as being widely regarded. Probably his 5 times Zamora Trophy conduct him to be overrated.
Only half of full-match
available for Sivori footage but it has been validated that he is among the
best dribbler ever. Sivori could drib pass opponent by straight forward
confrontation not try to move outside. John Charles also played well enough
when he move down to deep-forward area.
Benfica is always entertained to
watch. For me Coluna is man of the match in both 1961 and 1962
European Cup final. It is a bit strange that he only scored from long-shot
effectively or shot wide much out of the target. He is also seen to have a
better defensive quality than Didi.
The Catenaccio Inter Milan
facilitates Sandro Mazzola to play comfortably. He is an advanced midfielder
with a great creator of opportunity to assist or score and for me he should
play alongside Rivera without any problem. Luis Suarez is much more reliable
than his time at Barcelona when he too often made inaccurate passing. Facchetti
style likes a free-role full-back as he likes to conduct the ball inside to
defensive midfield area to find more space. As he is a right-foot player, it is
very questionable if he would be effective enough to be the right-back in all-time
world XI. In match against Bologna, the team seems to be too fatigue. Giacomo
Bulgarelli is very good in ball winner and also have a good vision. Helmut
Haller is very limited and have a few participation in that game.
The 1962 (Full Highlight 40
minutes), 1963 and 1966 Copa Libertadores Cup Final video, is very unclear, are
monitored. Apart from Pele who is always intelligent and effective in advanced
playmaker role, I focus on Pepe who I never watched in full-match. Pepe is fast
and classy in technique but lack of great imagination so it seems his teammate
try to more operate the game on right-wing (Dorval) than left-side area. Jose
Sanfilippo has a style to always conduct the ball by himself to score with his
great acceleration and powerful shot. Ernesto Grillo and Ermindo Onega has a
similar creative style of play with outstanding agility and high sense of
coordination but the second one performs in more free-role, often operate the
game on the wing area). It also very good chance to watch Mazurkiewicz and
Carrizo in a full-match. Both are agile and enthusiastic. All of their conceded
goals is beyond one’s capability.
The Penarol offensive Trio
“Rocha-Joya-Spencer” is focused. It is amazing about scoring scene by Rocha’s
heading that is really skillful. Rocha is very good in any aspect of playmaker
and also accurate in free-kick. Joya is dominate in physical, is strong and
fast with considerable technique but he is lack of spirit, intentionally
kicking the ball out to the grandstand to stall. Spencer scored both goals with
his proficient heading. He is also good in teamwork not just a tapped player.
The 1965 European Cup Final is available in only first half but the
raining fall prevents players to fulfill their potential and is perhaps the
most tiresome European club final match ever. The 1966 Final is mainly focused on Velibor Vasovic, Fahrudin Jusufi
and Amancio, As the quality of video is also not good and no commentator voice,
players are monitored by positional play. Amancio has proved he also played
well as a deep-lying forward. Fahrudin Jusufi is nothing but complete in
full-back qualification. For Vasovic, I will conclude again next time after
watch the 1969 final match. The 1967 final’s most remarkable one must be Jimmy Johnstone who is
highly impressive for his creativity and dribble when his speed is normal and
his scoring ability is below average. The Inter Milan players who seems to be
too much dependent on the team tactic Catenaccio whose defensive line is very
deep and finally allows two conceded goals from Celtic’s midfielders long shot
1966 World
Cup Matches Summary
In the 1966 World Cup, Argentina team is impressive in its teamwork
ability. Artime-Onega-Mas and Perfumo-Marzolini is mainly focused. Onega is
seen to make several inaccurate passes apart from his great vision and movement
as mentioned. Oscar Mas mostly coordinate with his teammate to move forward to
inside area. Artime is a main poacher as he seldom participate with the ball.
Perfumo is proficient for his quick movement from the back of opponent to cut
off the ball in front of them. He has a problem to manage with his aerial
battle twice when he try to intercept the ball from misdirect standing and it
is almost an own goal .For another case, his short jump allows opponent to
score too easy. Marzolini is seen to be fast when he run without the ball and
he is very reliable in his positional sense. Antonio Rattin is superb in
reading the game and ball winning, is one of the best destroyers ever.
The scene of Rocha technique is
unforgettable when he juggle ball across his head and an English defender and
move 180 degree to volley the ball at
once. It is a little out of target.
For Eastern European teams, The
Hungarian Du-O forward Albert-Bene is focused. Albert is an amazing complete
forward with elegant movement. Bene is agile in dribbling but his imagination
is too limited when he is set as a right-winger. For USSR, Shesternev is a true
reliable sweeper. He is slow but compensate by his great position and reading
the game. Compared to most defensive midfielders, Voronin is remarkably agile
and more elaborate with the ball. Dimitar Yakimov often shows his skillful
dribbling. Asparuhov is during his prime but I don’t see any spectacular on his
footage and is overrated for being regarded as the greatest Bulgarian player
ever.
In the semi-final between
W.Germany and USSR, Lev Yashin made a phenomenon incredible save of Seeler’s
shot in only 2 meters distance catching with
his hand. Yashin anticipates the direction of the ball completely. Seeler
bewilders for this magic save. However, Yashin is a bit too lazy and careless
when he allows goal conceding without attempt to jump.
The 1966 German players are monitored individually. Schnellinger
often move forward to semi-side midfield area thanks for his versatility as he
performs well in central defender, full-back or wing-back role. There is a
noticeable flaw in his reading ability when he mistakenly anticipates the
opponent running direction and he fling to tackle the ball in different
direction of opponent. Schulz is reliable in overall but slow and he was once
stolen the ball unknowingly from the back. However, the weak point of Germany
defensive line is Hottges who failed to mark Geff Hurst for the first conceding
goal and he mistakenly kick out for the second one. In midfielder, Beckenbauer
as a young defensive midfielder is a bit impetuous when he made ineffective
abrupt tackle a couple of times. Haller as an advanced midfielder is superb in
scoring sense with 6 goals
in 5 games, is deserved as the best
German player of the tournament. Seeler is seen to be diligent and extremely
beneficial for his team although he was unsuccessful in overall score
productivity. He even run deeper into midfield area to win the ball
successfully.
The Second Half 1960s Matches Summary
“The United Trinity”. Three
related matches in 1968 and 1969 saw George Best’s irregular performance, He several times
operates in right-wing and shows a spectacular dribbling as expected but his
enterprising one-man-show style of play is considered too extravagant in many
scenes that lose ball possession unnecessarily. It is also noticeable that his
dribbling is more dependent on acceleration than technique. The Trio is not
characterized as a remarkable coordinative one but it is more a group of three
famous players as Man Utd played football with total team work, allowing other
attackers create many benefits to the team. Regarding the match, in 1969 semi-final against Milan, Man Utd have a ball across the
line to draw 2-2 in aggregate but not a goal by
referee.
In three related matches, Rivera
has a unique passing technique with a curve that is very easy for teammate to
proceed. In 1969 European Cup Final, Ajax
dominates in ball possession. All of their attackers are fast and very good in
alternating position but their defense is extremely leak and can’t manage with
Milan’s counterattack. Velibor Vasovic has a positioning problem when he
establish himself too deep and open the space for opponent to shot.
Van Hanegem is highly admired in
the 1970 European Cup final. He
contributes many curve passes from his outer foot. He is also strong with highly
balance and his style and ability could be categorized in both playmaker or
box-to-box midfielder. Although Kindvall scores a winning goal in extra-time,
he is rather extravagant in his opportunity during the normal time. Moulijn is
creative and very good team work players but he has passed his prime in that
year.
“The 1967 British Match of Century”, the Euro qualification
quarter-final, England versus Scotland is extremely valuable to watch as both
team is considered as the best team ever of their country and the match is
extremely colorful. England just acquire the World trophy while there are 4 players available in all-time Scottish XI, Denis Law, Billy
Bremner, Jim Baxter and John Grieg (Jimmy Johnstone did not participate in this
match and as I check, these five players played together only 2 matches during 1966). Denis
Law performs in distinguish role from Man Utd, he plays deeper and shows many
agile and skillful ball control scenes. Bremner’s role is similar to Van
Hanegem as he could be considered in either playmaker or box-to-box midfielder,
possessing impressive agility, quick thinking and playmaking ability. Jim
Baxter’s style of play is inert. He is too slow and lack of movement effort
although he has excellent technique and playmaking skill. He is really
unsuitable to British football philosophy.
In semi-finalist and finalist of
the 1968 Euro, I mainly focus on Dragan
Dzajic. He is not a pure winger when he often move to support the central area
and finally scoring winning goal against England and the open goal in the first
final match. But still, Yugoslavia didn’t emphasize on dependence of him so he
is not a large contributor during the ball possession.
Thanks for divine of luck that
Italy won coin toss as they’re better than USSR in all aspects with a ton of
chances but failed to finish score. The issue about Rivera and S.Mazzola is
discussed as this match is one of the last games they’re allowed played
together on the pitch. At Inter Milan, Mazzola is more free in his role to
indispensably link the game between defense and forward. At Italy, the main
creator is Rivera and Mazzola is in charge of support striker role and both is
seen to be declined in performance, is a common due to mutual sharing of
creative force while their coordination is not a problem and it should be
actually beneficial to the team in overall.
1970 World
Cup Final Matches Summary
In related two matches. Hector
Chumpitaz is extraordinary on the ground defense with his high speed, agile and
technical utilization. Cubillas is always dangerous for opponents. He always
looks for either going straight forward or coordinating with his teammates to
score the goal but sometimes too hurry to shot in long distance widely. Hugo
Sotil substitutes in the second half and his dribbling and technical skill are
awesome. Anyway, Gallardo is also one of the best Peruvians player in the
tournament.
For Bulgaria side, Bonev plays
in his unusual position, a left-winger which he performs well enough. He is a
great physical and dynamic attacker. Only one match watched for Belgium as I
expect to watch more in the 1972 Euro,
Paul Van Himst is both energetically and technically characterized. He is quite
strong and diligent. Van Moer is seen to be more playmaker than box-to-box
midfielder at that time. Colin Bell is only issue for English players. He
substitutes Bobby Charlton in two related matches. Bell is a great dribbler in 1-1 confrontation as an attacking midfielder role. He is also
more agile than Charlton but not outstanding enough for his playmaking role for
England.
West Germany in 1970 has Beckenbauer as a commander in midfield area. When he
attacks, he is full of offensive midfielder quality with superb vision and
passing. He attempts too many out-off target long-shots as it is not his great
asset. Many scenes saw Berti Vogts dynamically perform offensive task. He is
even a great supporter in attacking midfield area thanks to his speed,
awareness of positional movement and let me reconsider if he is deserved in
all-time World XI. Wolfgang Overath is rather disappointing. He was rated by
Kicker in world-class but I see too often ineffective passes of him
particularly twice failures under comfort situation. Gerd Muller is admired for
his technique in ball touching and controlling that always facilitates himself
a gold opportunity to shot.
For Italy Team, Albertosi has a
problem in ball opening as he made twice mistakes, kick and throw the ball to
opponent’s forward and fall on the dangerous zone. These scenes let me consider
to add ball opening minor skill in keeping skill evaluation. As I watch
Facchetti several matches, he like to cover his zone and rare to see his
tackle. Burgnich is one of the toughest right-backs ever, very strong and
always reliable. Although Italy reaches the final match, the policy of rotation
between S.Mazzola and Rivera is considered not a main influential factor. The
team is really creditable just one match against West Germany in which is one
of the most entertained World Cup matches ever. In the final, Italian midfield
is much inferior to Brazil. When Italian defense is really not tough enough to
adopt efficient counterattack strategy, leaving Rivera in the bench is one of
worst managements in term of player resource utilization.
The 1970 Brazil team that is globally regarded as a best national
team ever remains arguable for me after watching semi-final match against
Uruguay. In the first half, Uruguay adopt their hard-ultra-defensive strategy
with high level of zone press and a lot of fouls prevent Brazilian players to
flow its route. Importantly, the Brazilian Defense is lack of systematic
quality. Pele, who is a centralized attacker of the team, performs below his
standard, rarely makes dangerous contribution and often shoot out of target,
largely impacts on the team performance. Brazil starts to stand firm when they
concede the first goal. Clodoaldo played his best performance in this
tournament. His style is smooth but always effective, purposive and beneficial
to his team in both defense and offense.
However, Brazil played superbly in all
other matches particularly against England and Italy in final match. Carlos Alberto
is reliable in defense as I rarely see his mistake or lose position, is much
more impressive than what I saw Djalma play. Gerson’s style of playmaking is
too limited and the majority of his passes are performed in a short distance to
his colleague not mobilize the ball in advanced area and he rarely made a long
pass unless his team has led in score to make it under comfort situation. Note
that Gerson played only 3 matches
in this tournament. Tostao is seen to be one of the best creative forwards of
all-time. His reverse kick assist to Pele against Romania is one of the best
assists ever.
In conclusion, Gerd Muller could be the most
outstanding individual performer of the tournament, scored 10 goals and made 2 assists
from total Germany’s 16 goals
(exclude third place match), is a phenomenon productivity (75 % productive contribution) although his style of play is not as
attractive as Brazilian players. Pele is rated as a silver ball player, making 4 goals and 4 assists
but he made many mistakes in his shooting during the tournament, best
remembered for his shot-wide in a short distance to the target in the group
round match. Jairzinho come to third place. He scores every game for Brazil but
his contribution during the game is rather limited. 4th is Beckenbauer and 5th is
Tostao in my evaluation.
The First Half 1970s Matches Summary – International Country
In the 1972 Euro qualification match, it is a new dimension of George
Best performance. He contributes an absolute dominant dribbling as an attacking
free-role from central midfield to wide and advanced area against Spanish
players. N.Ireland anyway has too limitation of teammates ability so rare
chances to be score. Pirri, a Spanish
star, plays as a box-to-box midfielder, shows his consistent great technique in
conducting the ball and vision to move and pass.
Brazil in 1972 Independence Cup final remains playing beautifully without
Pele and Carlos Alberto but lack of great finisher preventing them from beating
opponent easily. It is amazing how does Portugal combat with Brazil equally.
Portugal has an incredible strong defense led by Humberto Coelho. Emerson Leao
is a keeper who always stays at the goal line and seldom leave his zone to cut
the ball.
In the 1972 related matches, Rudakov is an absolute world-class keeper.
His 1-1 saves against a German player
is unforgettable. He decides to stay on the goal line and waits for the shot
and finally he overtakes to save it. Khurtsilava dominate USSR defender. He is
a quick and powerful stopper and possesses some technical skill. Van Himst is a
highly creative forward who always operate the game from attacking midfielder
area to forward zone but he was counted to make ineffective passes five time
from total 6 times during semi-final match.
The 1972 West Germany team is attested to be one of the best national
teams ever. The team played football with relative high speed and always very
dangerous for opponent. Beckenbauer is superb in his eye-to-pass in a long
range and its accuracy is always expectable. Netzer is almost perfect in his
passing performance in the 1972 Euro
semi-final. His passing is always accurate, stylish with high curve and
purposive to advanced position. He made both assists to Muller scores who
totally scored 4 goals in two matches. Jupp
Heyckes is anyway considered not suitable for the assigned side-forward role.
He is lack of satisfied level of vision and often concedes the ball. In
conclusion, I rate Netzer as the best player of the tournament. Beckenbauer
comes second and Muller followed as a third place.
The first match of Poland VS England in WC qualifying tat I intend to watch Lubanski in his peak performance. He always joins deep forward area to find the chance to shot by himself, is a bit too slow. He was severely injury in 60th minutes. Bobby Moore in his last non-friendly official match make a big mistake that losing ball to a Polish attacker getting to score an opened goal, largely impacts on England’s disqualification for the 1974 Final Tournament.
England VS Poland in the 1974 World Cup qualification last match is really fun and worthy to watch. England is led by Colin Bell and Martin Peters made a number of exciting attacking waves with a ton of chances that is incredible to score only one goal due to prolific saves by Tomaszewski. The saving scene in 78th minutes is miracle when Allan Clarke get chance to shot in front of the goal just around 8 meters. The ball is powerfully directive but Tomaszewski is perfect in anticipation and reflex saving, is one of the best saves ever in football history.

The First Half 1970s Matches Summary – Club
In the 1972 FA Cup Final is intended to watch Leeds Utd stars, Bremner’s
role is most likely a box-to-box midfielder, is a high work-rate and
uncompromising player while Giles customarily performs as a deep-lying
midfielder with smooth style of play. It is anyway rare scenes to see
coordination between the two players.
The dominance side of Ajax
Amsterdam is focused. Ajax’s total football is considered to reach its peak in 1972 and 1973 with
more balanced between level of alternation and skill matching. Ruud Krol’s
skill in his attacking scene is comparable to side-midfielder quality. He is
incredibly agile, technical and creative and just lack of high speed.
Vasovic/Balnkenberg is adopted as an advanced libero role. . In 1971 final, Velibor Vasovic is a great vision player from the
back-line but his inaccurate passing mostly unfulfilled his imagination. Aside
from Keizer, the left-wing is mostly reshuffled by Cruyff, Muhren and Krol. The
right–wing area is primarily participated by Swart/Rep, Haan, Neeskens and
Suurbier. The central forward was alternated between three forwards. The total
football is effectively implemented and generate phenomenon outcome in term of
chance creations but quality of finishing is relatively low when only Cruyff possesses
a proficient finishing skill.
Cruyff is always efficient in
his high speed dribbling with great compatible rhythm between his two feet,
almost 100% get pass the opponents in 1-1 battle, mostly in the wing-area. In the central area, he is
more coordinative player. As a temporary forward role, He scored by heading
twice where his positional play and jumping is naturally performed. However, 4 undesirable scenes are seen, he crosses the ball and shoot
by volleying style with his left-foot far out of the field line and target
without any following opponent once of each. His first touch by right-foot is a
bit too rebounded and lost the ball to opponent. He is also seen to have a too
high step of acceleration one time and lose the ball in important chance of
scoring. All in all, Cruyff’s dribbling and creativity skill is one of the best
ever but not for technique. Keizer’s style of dribbling is not special but
always effective although he is lack of high pace. Neeskens is highly admired
for his technical ability and vision.
In the 1973 European cup-QF Ajax VS Bayern, Sepp Maier made twice
mistakes. Firstly, he tried to cut the short-crossed pass but finally
unreachable and fortunately no Ajax player is waiting at the nearby area.
Secondly, he intends to catch the shot ball but spatter to Ajax player scores a
goal easily. Breitner also makes a mistake in passing the ball back to Maier
that Ajax player snatches to score. When Ajax led in score, they adopt
offside-trap in very high line closed to center-half area, highly impeding
Bayern’s momentum to equalize. Beckenbauer plays in more limited role than what
he does for West Germany when he less often go forward to avoid the risk in
Bayern’s defense. Breitner is an incredible work rate player, running in both
left, right-side and central midfielder area but his limited technique prevents
him from proceeding the ball in many times. It is the first time I see Gerd
Muller can drib pass player in midfield area.
The 1974 World Cup Group Stage
Elias Figueroa is focused in two group stage matches. Positional
standing is noticeably his greatest asset. He always stand in the right
sweeping position that allows him to block a number of opponent’s shot. His
overhead-kick to clear the ball out of dangerous zone is elegantly complete. He
almost scores a goal against East Germany by volleying but unfortunately the
ball clashes the bar. The most disadvantage of Figueroa that is inferior to
other top legendary central defenders is vision. Almost all scenes saw his very
short pass to defender teammate and seemingly lack of confidence to pass
forward to midfield area. Another controversial scene is happened when he was
following Uli Hoeness, who already led him a step, with his utmost speed and
try to jostle to win the ball but such a situation means the common losing of
balance and it is him to fall down.
As mentioned, I have started to evaluate keeper’s ball opening
skill. Soon after that, Ronnie Hellstrom is noticed to have a high problem in
his goal kicking skill. More than 80 % of his goal kicking led to the ball
possession loss when his kicking is aimless. There is no special scene to see
his remarkability in the group stage. Another focused keeper is Jurgen Croy. He
is always reliable in all aspects and his jumping to save is also impressive.
“The German Derby” saw the victory of East Germany over West
Germany although the eastern team doesn’t have Joachim Streich, is second in
ball possession through the game. The weak point of West Germany is a defender
Cullmann that led the team to have difficulty for times. Netzer is substituted
in the mid-second half when he played only this match in the entire tournament.
He is seen to play well enough but Overath is a better team work player who
flows the direction of playing more fluent. However, Overath is once again
disappointing in match against Chile. He remains mistook twice in the similar
ball passing to the 1970 tournament. Joachim Streich is seen to be a good team
work player and several times of withdrawal in match against Chile.
Johan Cruyff’s performance against Sweden is a phenomenon
approach. He dribs pass players and create a ton of chances. Only 3 scenes either
his passing is not complete or being intercepted but all of these are against
high level of difficulty. Other teammates don’t play well enough aside from Van
Hanegem and Krol, Holland failed to score any goal.
Italy Versus Argentina is the most entertaining match in the group
stage when both team plays the ball naturally without safety first-concern, alternating
to attack and defend in equal level. Carlos Babington is almost flawless in his
passing. Aside from his superb vision to assist to Rene Houseman, he is a main
constructive instrument of the team with a regular success of accurate
long-ball passing to the forward area. Rene Houseman’s style of play is
attractive. He starts on the wing but always conduct the ball straight forward
to opponent’s goal with his dominant high speed and exceptional dribbling
skill. He is anyway lack of stamina that led him to exhaust in the second half.
Romeo Benetti is not only a top uncompromising destroyer but his offensive
skill is also competitive. He has some great ideas of both creative and
technical approach.
For Brazil side, the two famous wing-backs like Marinho and
Nelinho are focused. Both are satisfactory level in their defensive
performance. Marinho has a high quality of technique and his movement to the
midfield area. Nelinho is a regular expectable crosser with considerable
technique but too limited in strength. Luis Pareira is a unique central
defender with complete set of physical ability but most of his tackles are
rough and fouls. With his ball possession, he always look forward to pass or
conduct the ball to the midfield area. Emerson Leao has a problem with his
handling when he failed to catch the ball twice although the power and
direction of the ball are considered not in difficult level.
Despite full of Brazilian stars like Rivelino, Jairizinho and
Leivinha, it does not take advantage of ball possession to Yugoslavia whose
midfielder destroys the Brazil’s game effectively particularly Bogicevic. Oblak
is a main playmaker of the team. He a diligent and tireless coordinator. Dragan
Dzajic is once again impressive. He is not very fast but his style and rhythm
of dribbling is elegant and his curve crossing. I match against Scotland, Danny
Mcgrain played in his unusual position, left-back. Although it is known this is
not his proficient position, he doesn’t perform any outstanding skill. Kenny Dalglish
is seen to have a skill of accurate long ball but it is mostly too slow that
allows defenders to have enough time in trapping the ball.
In the Match Uruguay VS Bulgaria, Fernando Morena, who is famous
for his prolific scores in club level, playing with a high level of
participation with the ball. He has a good technique and teamwork ability.
Ricardo Pavoni is a high creative player from wing-back area. He always
contributes an accurate cross but his speed and defensive ability is just
average.
1974 World Cup Qualification Second Round to Final
Brazil is this tournament adopt 4-6-0 formation similar to the
2012 Spain Euro Winner but Brazil is rather unsuccessful when the advanced
midfielder or wing-forward likes Rivelino, Dirceu, Paolo Cesar and Jairzinho
has a limitation in support scoring. Luis Parreira is an amazing exhaustless
player. Even in the late of the match, he is still full of energy to go forward
likes advanced libero but his quality in this role is limited.
Brazil VS Argentina saw a high impression of Brindisi who plays in
deep midfield area while Babington stands in more advanced position. Brindisi
is a complete midfielder with great vision, passing, technique with the ball
and his high curve free-kick direct just over Leao is a score.
The Poland Team : Tomaszewski made a two penalty saves during the
second group stage. The first one is a true hero to survive from losing Sweden
by his phenomenon penalty save. He deceives the shooter tend to move to left
and foreseen the ball will be shot to the right. The second one is against West
Germany. Jerzy Gorgon has a formidable strength and tall with his 192 cm but
his pace is in competitive level and very effective in stopper role while Zmuda
is more intelligent and . Gadocha is effective in both feet enabling him to
have alternatives in his playing vision. Lato is very diligent and quick. Deyna
is mostly under expectation. His passing is much less effective than that of
qualifying maches. Although his
goalscoring record for Poland is comparable to most forwards, he shot miss
target almost all of his attempts. The 3rd best player of the tournament
to him could be possibly overrated.
Johan Cruyff in match against East Germany emphasizes his
playmaking skill and rarer in one-man-show scene. Rensenbrink is just first
seen in second group stage, replacing Piet Keizer. His agility is a main asset
and his ball controlling footage looks like a hook. In match against Brazil, he
made often unsuccessful passes and dribbling in the first half. However, he
made one assist and scores a beautiful goal. Van Hanegem’s role in this
tournament take much of defensive task and many of his tackles are rough and
fouls.
Despite West Germany’s rotation policy of midfielder. Other
superstars than Netzer, Flohe and Hoeness is more favorable. Beckenbauer is
match against Poland made a rare mistake when he misses kicking the long passed
ball out and led to the conceding goal. Berti Vogts’ tackle is always accurate
but most of them are spilled out of his further possession. As watch all
related matches of Djalma Santos, Carlos Alberto and Berti Vogts, In my
evaluation in skill and performance scorecard, he is equal to Thuram who is
preferable for his peak in 1998 World Cup. Rainor Bonhof is one of the most
worth mentioned players. He is incredibly versatile thanks to his complete
skill set. At the scene, he performs as attacking midfielder in the
left-forward area but just a moment he appears at the right-back position.
The third place match is specifically intended to watch Ademir Da
Guia. His skill is most-matched to a deep-lying playmaker position. One scene he
made a magical long passing that spin back bouncing the field ground. He also
made a great tackle in ball interception. However, He several times likes to go
advanced without the ball but lack of positional fulfillment and is probably main
reason to be substituted in 65th minute.
The most memorable scene final match is inevitably the first minute
of Cruyff’ phenomenon one-man show that lead to penalty. After then, his
performance was always effective although not often participated with the ball,
only scene saw his incomplete passing. Arie Haan is a main vacancy of Dutch defense.
He is more fit to libero in 3-5-2 position likes Matthias Sammer’s role when
his position and tackle is below international standard. In West Germany side,
Gerd Muller’s turning 120 degree to shot is incredibly elastic. Berti Vogts
tremendously contributes to the team running across functional area.
In conclusion, Johan Cruyff is deserved best player of the
tournament unanimously. Beckenbauer come second in a high gap. The third place is belonged to Berti Vogts. 4th
place is Rivelino and 5th place is Grzegorz Lato.
In 1975 Match, Bayern adopt high-confident deep defense opening a
wide space for Leeds Midfielders to make a long pass comfortably. Hence, Johnny
Giles made a number of accurate long passes as he has time to elaborate with
the passed ball. Bayern’s strategy is successful when Leed’s forward has a few
occasions to shot in aerial.
The 1976 European Cup final is ignored to watch when the
semi-final that Bayern plays against Real Madrid is much more interesting. Real
Madrid led by German Stars likes Netzer and Breitner who achieves their own
standard. Camacho is very stagnant and reliable. Several times he shows to be
great enough as a center-back.
However, Sepp Maier was seen to have a problem in anticipating the
direction of crossed ball that he finally missed and several scenes saw his
handling problem. In pure ability, he might not be great enough for being top
15 keeper ever. The weakest point of Beckenbauer is now concluded to be his
long shot as he attempts very many times but most of them are missed target in
similar range around 1 – 2 feet.
The best era of Dinamo Kiev is also focused with existence of four
stars. Oleg Blokhin’s best scene ever in super cup against Bayern is memorized
for his spectacular dribbling. However, he was inconsistent in 1977 when most
of his dribbling is too long touch and finally was intercepted by secondary
defender easily. He is great in off-the-ball positional sense to meet shooting
opportunity but his aerial shot is always missed-target. His vision is
satisfied but his passing is mostly unfulfilled his intension. Rudakov is not
in his prime and his handling is many times problematic. Muntyan is a great
long-passer with the equivalent drive ball. Leonid Buryak is more advanced
midfielder or right-winger rare to make special scene.
Allan Simonsen operates the game in either central area or the
right-wing, surprisingly possesses a considerable strength that much help his
dribbling more stable. He is not failed to the ground and even win in collision
with Dinamo Kiev defensive player twice.
The 1976 Czechoslovak team is seen to be one of the best team
workings ever. Ivo Viktor is great in both game reading and reflexes saving
with his outstanding agility, is really remarkable in the final when he saves
important goals five times. I don’t name him as a man of the match anyway as none
of those saves wonderful enough. Anton Ondrus is the most impressive player in
this team. He is a complete central defender with complete set of physical
ability and high quality of offense, could drib pass defender elegantly. Karol
Dobias is known as a right wing-back but his role is a semi-side midfielder. He
is very agile and technical player but lack of competitive stamina, best seen
in the final that he is substituted. Although I expect impressive scenes of
Panenka, it is rare to see his great skill.
The Second Half 1970s Matches Summary – Club
The 1976 Euro semi-final saw the defeat of Netherlands that is
much effected from Cruyff’s performance. He played below his standard although
not make any obvious mistake. In German Side for the final, Rainor Bonhof is a
main contribution of the team in both defense and offense. He win many ball and
creates a number of chances.
In
the beginning period of Liverpool glory era, Kevin Keegan was a key player of
the team in the 1977 final and right after the match he was moved to Hamburger.
In 1977 final, Keegan was marked by Vogts through the game. Vogts follows
Keegan in all area of the pitches and is successful until he foul Keegan in the
latter of game and lost penalty kick. Keegan is virtually agile in movement and
dribbling. He often operate in the left-wing with Hamburger where his left-foot
is ineffective. Although Hambruger lost 6-0, Keegan played quite well.
In
related three matches, the successor Kenny Dalglish is only better than Keegan
in teamwork ability. Aside from his spectacular goal by shifting the ball, He
shot far out of the target in closed distance to the goal 3 times. He is also
rare to either drib pass opponents or make a deadly pass. Alan Hansen made a
mistake when he passes back to Clemence carelessly and the opponent forward
snatches to shot in front of the goal but finally survive from conceding. He is
also seen to slip too easy against the opponent who just lock the ball to
inside area and get chance to shot. Souness plays in his smooth reliable way.
The remarkable one is Terry Mcdermott who is always dangerous in long-shot and
even score hat-trick against Hamburger. Ray Clemence has few chance to save
against opponent. His kicking to open the ball is very effective but not for
his hand.
France : The Magic Square is confirmed to be the greatest midfield line ever. Tigana-Giresse-Platini is very compatible in coordination rhythm. Luis Fernandez is a leading destroyer likes an high power engine. Tigana is a great runner with considerable technique although some limitation of passing are detected. Giresse is highly appreciated in his vision and ball controlling that is always effective. Platini is a true leader with unbeatable character. His passing and movement is always purposive and creates a ton of change for himself and teammates to score. In the final, he get himself very deep in organizing the team . He is also seen to perform heading the ball satisfactorily.
1986
World Cup Summary
Denmark : “The Danish Dynamite” The team is entertaining to watch but lack of tactical strategy and is defeated by Spain 1 -5. Michael Laudrup played well with some impressive dribbling scenes.
Paraguay : The only full-match to watch Julio Cesar Romero and he has been qualified for top 50 most skill advanced midfielder of all-time. He is an enthusiastic playmaker and all-round. Romerito is very good in technique and scoring sense.
Mexico : The team has a potential to beat West Germany. Unfortunately Hugo Sanchez carried too heavy task and his body condition become too exhaustive in the latter of the match Hugo Sanchez’s footage is quick and dangerous. Manuel Negrete as a playmaker is the second most remarkable of the team who tremendously support Hugo Sanchez.
Uruguay : There are more scenes to see Francescoli’s technique that is elegant and his ball control is fluent. He is anyway lack of character of leadership to activate the teammate.
Soviet Union : Dasaev always make a right decision in saving the ball. Zavarov shows extraordinary dribbling skill. Ihor Belanov plays in his utmost performance with scoring 2 penalty goals from total 4 goals made in the tournament, Belanov is not very high creative player but he is very effective when he met opportunities.
England : In overall tournament, Cris Waddle’s dribbling is stumble. Glenn Hoddle mainly set the game from central midfield area. Although he is a bit too lazy, his deadly passing to penalty area is dangerous. Gary Lineker is more than a great finisher. He is quick in movement and very good in teamwork ability.
Spain : Michel Gonzalez is rather under expectation when rare skill is seen to be impressive. He is a right midfielder who operate in both central and right-side area. For this tournament, there is no significant difference for his performance between two positions. He is not fast, his passing is often inaccurate and he rarely drib pass opponent. Emilio Butragueno run in everywhere in the front line. He is a quick thinker and his agile movement made many troubles to opponent. Zubizarreta is very calm and reliable in every situation. Juan Senor is a main instrument of Spain, playing effectively in his own standard.
Belgium : Although Ceulemans is widely regarded as the most outstanding player of the team. He is certainly not deserved to be rated in world-class. His passing is always unexpectable. He is lack of playmaking skill but known for his dynamic running straight forward to score. In my evaluation, his overall skill is disqualified for top 50 advanced midfielder. However, he is remained in top 50 attacking midfielder in performance evaluation. Scifo as the best young player of the tournament has a few special contribution.
Brazil : The match against France is really entertaining when both team assault alternately through the match. Brazil shot clash the pillar/bar twice and Zico missed penalty, is very unfortunate. Edinho is superb in reading the game. He quickly cut the ball under compressive situation. He scored a goal after showing great dribbling skill. Edinho is effective in bith center-back and left-back and he alongside Lucio is now rated as the second most skillful central defender ever only to Luis Pareira. Junior as a central midfielder is in range of satisfactory level. His skill is evaluated in top 20 side-back of all-time but exclude from top 50 central midfielder of all-time. Socrates is little discredited in a scene he touches the ball bouncing out of his control. Careca is limited in conducting the ball by himself. Anyway, he is a perfect model of finisher with positional sense, strong, great in air and deadly shot.
France : Platini is obviously declined from the recent tournaments. He become inertia in dribbling while his passing is still very accurate. Tigana played very well. He often shows his quick acceleration getting pass opponent. Manuel Amoros is once again very impressive. He is complete side-back without tangible weakness. Amoros possesses a great long-shot apart from his effective tackling and offensive ability. Dominique Rocheteau is another outstanding French player in this tournament.
West Germany : Schumaccher is superb in positioning, He always coincidentally stand against opponent’s shooting direction. Andreas Brehme plays in both left and right back during the tournament. He is strong and is a great tackler but strange for this position as he is not fast. His shot is dangerously powerful, is one of the best long-shooters ever. Karlheinz Forster is a leader in defensive line. He is intelligent in positional sense and very decisive in tackling. Matthaus performs as defensive midfielder mostly seen as a great combated player.
Argentina : Maradona is strongly considered as the best performer ever in single international tournament although his hand ball scoring should be negatively noted. Aside from his usual superb dribbling, he creates a ton of chances to his teammates. However, I prefer Burruchaga as man of the match in the final. Burruchaga is really in his top performance during the tournament, is very compatible in coordinating with Maradona and even highly contributes in defensive task. Another key of success is the center-back partnership, Jose Luis Brown and Oscar Ruggeri is a great wall that very rare occasions to be destroyed.
In conclusion, Maradona is the best player of the tournament. 2nd is Gary Lineker. 3rd is Jorge Burruchaga, 4th is Manue Amoros and 5th is Karlheinz Forster.
Late
1980s Summary
International Club
In the 1987 European Cup final, Paolo Futre is mainly focused. He is very quick with talented dribbling skill and also good in teamwork, running in the left wing and central area and mostly pass the ball with great curve. Matthaus and Brehme is rather limited as a main creative force.
In the 1987 – 1988 European Cup first round, I intend to watch Maradona performance when Napoli failed to succeed the biggest European trophy. In two leg, Maradona doesn’t achieve his own prime standard. He become fatter with lower agility and it is rarer to see him make one-man-show scene and also limited opportunity to score himself. Anyway, Maradona is still a main contributor for Napoli, creating a number of chances to his teammate. Napoli failed to bear Real Madrid although there is no attendance of Madrid in their home leg. In second leg, Careca is a main reason for Napoli disqualification. He meet too many obvious opportunities to score but he always shot straight forward to keeper.
Maradona finally lead Napoli to the champion of UEFA Cup. In the second leg, he is seemed to be inertia and get few participations. However, he successfully makes 2 key assists to decisive goals, one of them is even made by his great heading. Note that Careca is seen to have developed his technical skill from 1986 world cup. Ciro Ferrara in his young ages is already top-class defender with hard tackling and solid positional play. Sigurvinsson as a playmaker of Stuttgart is satisfied in general with great organizing and passing skill.
In 1989 European Cup, I watched only 60 minutes for each semi-final and final match as Milan has devastated the opponents 4 -5 goals. Milan at those matches perfectly adopt zone-press strategy that efficiently impedes the opponent route of playing, The reputable back-four plays conveniently when rare of difficult task to handle. The Dutch Trio is also spending their peak with Milan. Gullit’s physical dominance and his all-round ability is a key of Milan abrupt assault strategy but his left-foot is rather ineffective. Although Gullit is known to be great in defense, he is a bit too lazy in following opponent to win the ball. Although Rijkaard is a world-class central defender in the 1988 Euro, his destroying skill is not elaborated and many of them are performed by rough tackle and fouls. Anyway he is a main playmaker of the team although he is defensive midfielder. That means Milan’s style of play did not emphasize ball possession. Rijkaard once shows his great acceleration to score a goal although he is never acknowledged as a fast player. Van Basten remains attractive to watch although his performance is much decline from the 1988 Euro. The three Dutch players always dominates in air allowing them to make many chances from heading.
However, Milan become decline in the following 1990 European Cup when Gullit get injury and he doesn’t play well in the final. Van Basten is also falling down in his performance. Thanks to Rijkaard who carried the team to the goals. In related matches, Baresi is undoubtedly world-class in defensive performance. Anyway, he is far inferior to Scirea and Passarella in offensive contribution. A few chances to see Baresi makes a great long passing and his ball controlling is seen stiffen. He is still good at moving forward with triangle coordination. Costacurta is an elegant stopper. His defense is always reliable and he is also weak in vision to pass as expected. Maldini in young ages plays like a high-experienced defender. His offensive skill is seen to be in developing period.
The derby match of Spain in 1990 Copa Del Rey final is not entertaining enough as expected. Although R.Madrid is contained with a number of superstars, the teamwork is unfulfilled. Micheal Laudrup in related matches remains playing much below his potential, always find the space to pass to his teammates although it is a better chance to drib pass players by his own ability. Hagi with Steua is already superb. His dribbling is conduct beautifully. I am rethinking of including Butragueno in top 50 forwards of all-time if he should have been ahead of Jose Sanfilippo at least although Butragueno’s domestic performance is not in competitive level. He continuously plays well in international football.
In 1990 European Super Cup, Pietro Vierchowod is quick as expected but a scene saw his poor in reading the direction of the ball. Now he is in a short list candidate to be moved out of top 50 defenders of all-time.
The Copa Americas
In 1987 Copa America against Uruguay, Maradona remains play well but he is really struggle for the storm of hard-tackles by Uruguayan defenders. However, he mistake in a gold opportunity when he mistakenly touches the ball until miss the chance to score in front of goal. Maradona is first seen to be failed in overall match at the 1989 Copa America against Brazil. He is seemingly lack of passion to win the tournament. He rarely make a dangerous scene and fails to lead the team. Romario in this match is also not remarkable.
Ruud Gullit and Frank RIjkaard also played in their peak. Rijkaard is very great in positional play as a center-back alongside Ronald Koeman who is seen to be dominant in strength and also great in reading the game. Koeman’s passing is always accurate but his long-shot is miss-target narrowly for the most times. Van Breukelen’s skill is evaluated below top 50 most skillful keepers ever. He made some wrong decisions in moving out of the goal line.
Jurgen Kohler make a great jobs in marking Van Basten in semi-final match. He consistently follow Van Basten in the entire game effectively until he misses in the last minutes due to his low speed. Andreas Brehme plays effectively in both left and right-back with great unique crossing ability. He possesses hard tackle. Brehme’s weak point is too low speed for wing-back position. Matthaus in this tournament remains unremarkable in creativity.
Soviet Union
Dasaev concedes the miracle goal to Van Basten in final match should not be discredited. Although the direction of the ball is from the incredible angle, the trajectory is a high curve and impossible for any keeper to reach at basic position. The USSR midfielders likes a big wave ripples the opponent. Zavarov, Mikhailchenko, Litovchenko and Belanov all are dangerous in central attacking area and quickly moves forward to find space to shot. For those 4 attackers, Litovchenko is seen to be the best. Mikhailchenko is seen to be overrated. Anyway, Oleg Protasov is weak in physical condition and not decisive enough in shooting.
England
Tony Adams is superb in air, even score one goal by heading. However, he is rather slow in movement and let to conceding a goal. John Barnes is a perfect mold for conventional British winger with great acceleration and specialize in crossing but his style is too limited to wide area, easy to trap when his right-foot is really ineffective. Anyway, Bryan Robson achieves his own standard. Glenn Hoddle played well as a playmaker, consistently contributes accurate long passing. Gary Lineker positions himself in side-forward area which he was assigned during Barcelona years but this reduces his opportunity to score in front of the goal.
In conclusion, Van Basten is the best player of the tournament. 2nd is Ruud Gullit and 3rd is Frank Rijkaard.
The 1992 European Championship Summary
France : Laurence Blanc is the best French player in this tournament. He is very skillful in ball controlling and vision to pass. Eric Cantona is highly creative player with high physical strength. Papin has a few participation during the matches but he still scores 2 goal in the group round.
England : David Platt is an enthusiastic player, quick and great in movement from midfield to support scoring in forward area.
Holland : Rijkaard is the best dutch player in this tournament. He doesn't only score 2 important goals but he also dominates in destroying the game in central midfield and also contributes great passes. Gullit is rather decline, his coordinating synchronization with his teammate is problematic. Van Basten is not in a great physical condition. Unfortunately his volleying shot clash the bar and finally he failed to score any goal. Van Basten anyway acts as a great creative forward with great assisting and technical abilities as usual. Dennis Bergkamp is rather slow but he is very decisive in running towards the goal to score.
West Germany : Kohler has a problem every time he plays against Van Basten's movement 3 tournaments in row. Effenberg possesses very accurate passing but he is too slow in both running and tackle. Sammer as a central midfield role is remarkable in offensive while his defensive ability is rather limited. Thomas Haesler is a main attacker of the team with diligence and consistent passing contribution. Klinsmann is too extravagant.
Denmark : The Danish team plays football with discipline, bravery and perfect mind-set, fulfilling the highest team working potential. When the team meet a few god opportunities to score, they rarely misses. In related matches, there is no phenomenon saves by Schmeichel but his organizing, ball opening, ball interception and leadership skill is psychologically effect on Danish team. Henrik Larsen is the best attacker of the team, is a key player for the Danish legendary team.
In conclusion, I rate Schmeichel as the best player of the tournament. The second place is Rijkaard and Thomas Haesler is the third.
1978 World Cup Summary
Austria : Bruno Pezzey is an advanced libero who often
participates in midfield area to support as a creative force. However, his
positional defense is his weak point. He often places himself behind opponent’s
attacker in penalty area when opponent crosses the ball from the side of the
field, allowing opponent to reach the crossed ball before him and get chance in
assisting or scoring. In a scene, he has problem in witty of interception.
After he battles in aerial ball, the ball falls nearby between him and a
Spanish attacker but he fails to follow. Prohaska is mainly identified as a
great team work player with great vision to pass. Hans Krankl is better than
what I expected when he shows some good skill in conducting the ball. In match
against West Germany, he shows spectacular volleying in winning goal.
France : Marius Tresor is physically excellent but his
positional sense is not impressive. Several times, he positions himself too far
from the opponent when France was being assaulted. Maxime Bossis’ technique is
admired. His rhythm in interception is disappointed according to 3 -4 scenes
captured.
Argentina : Ubaldo Fillol is one of the best keepers ever in
a World cup single tournament, is always superb in his agile reflexes save as
one of the most skillful ever, saving Argentina from conceding many goals.
Daniel Passarella is a true commander with complete set of playing skill and
mental qualification. In a scene, he lost balance when he is following the
opponent and fall to the ground but he incredibly gets up and follow to win the
ball with himself. He shows a quick dribbling skill and his incredible
positional sense in his offensive-mind allow him to dominate in aerial shot.
Oswaldo Ardiles doesn’t play well enough in group stage. He concedes the ball by
his passing under easy situation but then he was one of a key players in group
stage. He has a great idea of coordination through his agile movement. Mario
Kempes is a complete striker, is dominant in physique. He is tall with high
strength and great speed and technique, being dangerous in every moment.
Italy : This team has a high potential enough to win the
tournament but players are declined in performance in the last match due to
fatigue body condition. All started players but Bellucci are named in my top 50
most skillful players ever by position. Dino Zoff is always reliable. He makes
almost 100 % correct decision in situation management. However, his conceding
goal from Arie Haan’s ling shot is a flaw when he should have enough time to
reach the ball. Scirea places himself very deep position ensuring preventing
opponent’s obvious chance. He is a creative defender from the deep position not
often in moving forward but when he moves, he is amazingly great and agile in
dribbling. Gentile plays as an important role in high-work-rate approach, often
get chance to pass the ball to forward area but his technique and vision is
very limited. Cabrini is a great technical and tactical player with outstanding
ball control and tackling skill. Benetti is a box-to-box midfielder while
Tardelli establishes himself as destroyer. Causio is remarkable in dribbling
and vision to pass, is one if the main cogs of the team. Bettega is rather
extravagant in chance consumption. Finally, Paolo Rossi is stumble in his
versatile and elegant style of playing. He often performs as a side-forward in
both wings with his agile movement and effective crossing. Thus, Rossi is
effective in both forward and top striker role. He is anyway lack of
competitive strength and stamina.
Netherlands : It is much more often to see Ruud Krol’s
tackling in a central defender position. In 1978 tournament, he is much less
successful in % tackle won than the 1974 tournament. He is seen to have a rough
tackle several times. Rensenbrink become the leader of Holland’s offense. He
shot clash the pillar in the last minutes as one of the most regrettable
moments ever in football as it failed turns the Dutch football history
narrowly.
Peru : Cesar Cueto shows an incredible quickness in his
dribbling footage and movement but he made ineffective pass several times and
his goalscoring skill is relatively weak. Chumpitaz sustains his great
defensive performance. His passing is really not favored at this tournament.
Brazil : Zico is primarily a reserved player. He did the
impressive individual performance but his limited teamwork ability prevented
him from meeting the great chances. Dirceu is the best player in this team with
magnificent long shot ability. Edinho is worth to watch. He is seen to play as
left-back or center-back equally and shows great technical skill combined with
his defensive quality. Roberto Dinamite is a disappointing striker. He mostly
shoots miss target in a far range.
West Germany : Berti Vogts finally make a mistake of own goal
in the situation that he could do better. Now it is interesting for me to
collect own goal record of legendary defender. Manfred Kaltz’s main position is
sweeper but he occasionally switches to Right-Back where he shows his great
pace and good step of dribbling.
In conclusion, Kempes is deserved the golden ball, Fillol
came second, Paolo Rossi is the third place. 4th is Passarella and I select
Dirceu as 5th best player of the tournament.
Late 1970s to early 1980s
In the South American Derby in 1979 Copa America, Ricardo
Bochini is a key player in Argentina midfield. His best skill is seen to be
dribbling with considerable technique. His long passing is also quite accurate
but he also has some problems in his vision, seen by two mistakes short-pass.
Socrates is awesome in his aerial scoring. Aside from his advantageous tall
figure, he is great in heading with the ball. He possesses a high sense of team
work, contributing flows of passing with coincident rhythm. Junior is satisfied
in both offense and defense with positional awareness.
In the 1980 European Cup Final. Peter Shilton is prudent and
extremely reliable. His reading the game is one of the best ever. He makes
important saves 3 times with great reflexes althpugh his jumping is rather
limited. Keegan plays as attacking
midfielder. Although he is a high team work player, he is limited in playmaking
skill and several times too hurry in going forward lead to losing the ball. He
also has ability to assist in any acrobatic style such as heading, bicycle
kicking, etc. Manfred Kaltz is outstanding in his positioning and passing.
In 1980 Cup Winners Cup, it is the only match I will have
watched Liam Brady and Patt Jennings. Brady is a great organizer and long
passer. Jennings has a few occasion to save the ball. The most scenes he is
very good in goal kicking.
Euro 80
Italy : Dino Zoff’s most favorable skill is his reading the
game and handling. It is rare to see his mistake in catching the ball. Scirea
is an advanced sweeper in this tournament. His technique and agility supports
him to support midfield area conveniently. Moreover, Scirea possesses a great
vision to pass from the backline to advanced area. However, he mistakes in
touching the ball and lose free-kick in front of penalty area against England.
Moreover, he incredibly misses scoring in a very short distance. Roberto
Bettega is the target man in the 1978 World Cup but he plays in deeper role in
the 1980 Euro and contributes some chances to his teammates.
Belgium : Jean Marie-Pfaff is really remarkable in opening
the ball when his kicking is powerful and go far to nearby penalty area of
opponent. Eric Gerets is very strong and tough in defensive task. He is
intelligent in take positional advantage. Van Moer makes a poor vision in match
against Italy when he pass back to Marie-Pfaff recklessly and almost concede a
goal. However, he plays very well in the final match as a box-to-box
midfielder. Cuelemans is diligent, great physical player and high skill of team
work.
Germany : Bernd Schuster in match against Holland is really
complete. 100 % of his approach is effective in all aspects of performance. He
is an all-round midfielder who shows high technique by tilting the ball getting
pass opponent. Schuster several times switches himself to right-wing area where
he always contributes accurate crossing. He also makes powerful and on-target
shot. Although Allofs scores hat-trick in this match, Schuster is still chosen
as man of the match by me. His performance is slightly dropped in the final
match. Rummenigge is physically complete and his technical ability is in
satisfactory level although several times he has no idea to get pass defenders
aside from his physical advantage. Briegel is better than Kaltz physically when
Kaltz is also better in team work ability. Both are very great in technique and
tackling skill.
In the 1981 Mundialito or mini world cup, Maradona takes the
most important role of the team. His dribbling in that time is almost complete
but shortage of great balance and stamina prevent him from going farther in
several scenes. Maradona’s vision and passing is still in-developing process.
Passarella in this tournament has improved his passing to be much more
accurate.
In 1981 European Cup final, the match really not achieve high
quality. Liverpool played below their own standard compared with the late 1970s
team. Alan Hansen is very limited in vision to pass which is often incomplete.
Souness has a few contribution of the team and Dalglish is always good teamwork
player with smooth style of play. The most impressive player in the match is
Jose Camacho. Although he is known as left-back, he played as a right-wing-back
with amazing ball controlling and crossing ability. His role is even similar to
side-midfielder.
1982 World Cup Summary
Brazil : Junior is
unofficially named in the 1982 best XI that is overrated. He doesn’t play well
particularly in the second group stage. His teamwork ability is really under
expectation. Leandro is impressive in his technique. Not likes many other
Brazilian side-backs who is weak in defense, he performs defensive task
satisfactorily. The three key players Falcao-Socrates-Zico aligns in the
central midfield is controversial. Falcao is known as the best performer as a
main creator from deep midfield area. Socrates is a true stylish playmaker as
well as a great support role to score. Thus, Zico essentially act likes support
striker and always try to find opportunity to score but not prolific finally.
Aside from Toninho biggest mistake in match against Italy, he played
disappointingly in overall tournament.
USSR : Dasaev is reliable in all aspects. Apart from
individual expertise, he is excellent in commanding the defenders. Bessonov is
best known as a right-back but he is more midfielder in practical. The only
remarkable skill of him is ball controlling. Demyanenko is a great crosser with
high speed as a left-wing-back.
Yugoslavia : Safet Susic as an advanced midfielder is
conveniently within range of expectation. His technical first touch, vision,
and movement all are naturally elegant to an eyes. Petrovic is stand behind him
with very good playmaking and long-shot skill.
Spain : Camacho is once again impressive. His role is anyway
strange when he alternate between left-full-back and right-wing-back role
during the game. Rafael Gordillo is
under expectation. He is weak in defense while his offensive skill is satisfied
in only dribbling ability but fail in vision and passing.
England : Bryan Robson possesses a great balance when
controlling the ball at the scene he still stand against surrounded opponent.
He is superb ball interception. In many cases, his slide tackle is very fast
and accurate from incredible position.
Poland : As seen, the 1982 world cup is the best tournament of
Lato not 1974. He develops his creative skill as a main contributor to the team
from the right-wing. Boniek become a star of the tournament mainly from his
hat-trick against Belgium in second group stage. Anyway, 2 of them are done
rather convenient without any Belgian player nearby him. Unfortunately, he does
not play in semi-final and for me, he is not great enough for top 5 players of
the tournament.
France : As I see many matches of Bossis, he is not good
enough as one of 50 most skilfull side-backs ever. Rare scene to see his
above-average performance. Tresor is not consistent enough in his performance
through the tournament and he is not better than Desailly at all. Amoros is a
true star. In match against West Germany, he almost score the winning goal just
before ending of 90 minutes but the ball clash the bar. He is technically agile
with great offensive-mind running from defensive to offensive area from times
and his crossing is mostly accurate. “The French Trio” Tigana-Giresse-Platini
is stumble to watch as an incredible creative force. Individually, Tigana
concedes the ball too easy in overall and make no good decision in last minute
try to shoot in impossible distance for him. Giresse is very consistent and
always reliable as an organizer. Platini does not play well in a group stage
when his passing is goalless twice times. He finally fulfill his potential in
semi-final against West Germany almost perfect in game creation and shows
classy technical skill. However, he shot out-off-target 3 times in expectable
distance.
Austria : Pezzey and Prohaska are noticed to play better
significantly than the 1978 tournament. Pezzey become more reliable in
defensive task. Prohaska establish himself in deeper area similar to defensive
midfielder role.
Italy : Dino Zoff is another one who is named in world cup
all stars team unofficially but it is highly questionable if he is deserved. He
is very reliable but too slow and I don’t see any spectacular save in related
matches. Cabrini is deserved to be the left-back of the tournament as he is
very complete in his task in both defense and offense. Gentile is the most famous defender in
Italian team. He marks Maradona and Zico effectively but most of them are
tactically fouls and he could be fortunate enough when the referees preferred
to save yellow cards in the pocket. I don’t give his credit as much as Scirea
who is highly underrated. Tardelli plays his best performance in this
tournament, rare mistake to be detected. Conti’s agile dribble always allows
him to get through the opponents and is the main key player in Italian midfield
area indispensably. Paolo Rossi in match against Brazil scores hat-trick but he
mistakes in 1-1 chance to score. In this tournament, Rossi develops himself to
be expert in positioning in penalty area while he remain operates from
deep-lying forward in most times.
Germany : Schumaccher is superb in position and when combined
with his large body, he reached the ball without necessary high jump. Karl
Heinz Forster is overall reliable but one scene saw his weak in strength when
he lost in the clash although it is him to run straight forward to take jostle.
Brigel dominates in his powerful running with technical support but his
crossing is always unexpectable. Pierre Littbarski is the second best German
player in the tournament. He can be relied on his dribbling and accurate
crossing. Klaush Fischer scores one of the most beautiful goals by overhead
kick. Rummenigge for me is under expectation. He doesn’t participate with the
game enough. In some related matches, he almost disappeared in the game.
Anyway, when he has a chance with the ball, it is very effective and dangerous.
In conclusion, I name Paolo Rossi as the best player of the
tournament. 2nd place to 5th place is Rummenigge, Falcao, Conti and Platini
respectively.
1983 - 1985
In
1983 Derby match of Spain “Barcelona VS Real Madrid”, I intend to watch only
Copa Del Rey Final but some misunderstanding let me to also watch La Liga in
first 60 minutes and fortunately the match get me a new knowledge that
Maradona’s aerial ability is in satisfactory level. Within 3 scenes, he jumps
quite high and head the ball in great direction. Bernd Schuster in post-injury
is seen to be obviously declined but the number of ineffective passes should
not be impacted by injury since it is regarding the vision.
1983
Copa America Final First leg is focused on Francescoli who is named as player
of the tournament. He is one of the most elegant players ever but too slow and
his dribbling is not agile enough to survive for interception twice. Apart from
his great free-kick scoring, he contributes a smooth pass for most times. Additionally,
he rarely participates with the ball in 1984 Artemeo Franchi that champion of
Europe (France) versus Champion of Americas (Uruguay).
Liverpool
between 1984 and 1985 is admired for teamwork ability. Note that Kenny Dalglish
is once again disappointing in 1985 Final, he made fail passes six times. For
me, there is no way he is better than Kevin Keegan in overall skill when his
technique is also not remarkable. Souness is a great long passer but rather
slow and limited in scoring support. Ian Rush is a great teamwork player. In
many scenes, he get himself down to coordinate the ball with his teammates.
Juventus
between 1983 and 1985 is entertaining to watch. Platini is a perfect organizer
and his passing is always expectable. Boniek is an advanced midfielder who is
limited in creativity and average is scoring. The failure of Boniek in 1983
European Cup Final is issued. He made six ineffective passes likes what
Dalglish made in 1985. He is great in pace and technique. Tardelli is very
consistent for his destroying and supporting in midfield.
In
1984 Intercontinental Cup, Ricardo Bochini is amazing for his incredible
agility in movement and dribbling. That is strange when he is much more agile
than his performance in 1979 despite his high age in late career.
Real
Madrid in the 1986 UEFA Cup Final has many stars to be impressive. Hugo Sanchez
is truly dangerous forward. He is fast, great in technical ball controlling and
positional movement. Butragueno as a second forward is mostly running from
attacking midfield area toward forward line. He is outstandingly quick and
diligent. Michel in this match performs as a central midfield role with smooth
style of play.
The
only full-match to have watch Hans Jurgen Dorner is the 1984 Euro Qualification
Scotland VS East Germany. I stop watching at 60th minute when Dorner
make a rough miss-tackle allowing Scotland player to cross and finally concede
the goal. During the match, I don’t see any special skill of him
The
1984 UEFA Euro
“Danish
Dynamite” Denmark : Morten Olsen could be the best defender of the tournament
if not restrict the round of competition qualified. He act as a advanced libero
with dynamic running to midfield area, possesses very accurate and great weight
of passing. His defensive ability is easily satisfied. Soren Lerby is very strong
and reliable. His role in this tournament is more destroyer anyway. Michael
Laudrup plays efficiently with high level of generosity but not spectacular
scene. Preben Elkjaer is categorized as a left-side forward. He is an
aggressive powerful runner and great in positional movement but his productive
skill likes assisting and shooting is under standard. Also, his technique is
seen to be unnatural and incomplete, being confirmed that he is not good enough
for being named in top 50 most skillful forwards.
Iberia
nations : Antonio Maceda is the best Spanish player of the tournament. He
scores important goal in semi-finalist and he contributes many good passes.
Fernando Chalana is too limited. He misses many short passes, not fast enough
although he makes one assist from his long-pass. He is famous for his dribbling
but I don’t see any special dribbling from him through 3 full-matches. Anyway,
Joao Pinto is impressive in both defensive and offensive as a great crosser.
The
1988 European Championship
Netherlands
Marco
Van Basten always scores decisive goals and he is very complete and elegant
striker, is even great enough to be a world-class second striker. His idea of
playing is always intelligent, his technique is unique and even great in any
aspect of aerial shooting. Thus, he is the best striker ever in an
international country single tournament.
Italy
Walter
Zenga is reliable in overall although not any spectacular scene. Giuseppe
Bergomi plays as a right-back and now I think he could be the toughest
right-back ever, always stand in the right position and make a true decision in
interception, strong likes a rock. Giuseppe
Giannini’s agile movement is amazing.
West
Germany
Olaf
Thon is a player who is probably one of the most underrated players. As a
central midfielder, he is extremely quick and creative likes a pure playmaker
but the incredible thing is he is also very good in defense as he even plays as
a libero in the mid-1990s.
The 1990 World Cup Summary
Although the tournament is known as the lowest scoring ratio in history, the games is very high quality and entertaining. Exceptionally the final match is one of the most boring World Cup final matches ever.
Yugoslavia : It is known as the best Yugoslav team ever. Safet Susic is the most impressive player although it is already his late career. His high experience enables him to be more decisive than previous tournament and his spin passing is amazing. Dragan Stojkovic is anyway the most consistent Yugoslavian player. He is very calm, often switches to right-side area where his crossing is expectable. Prosinecki’s technical dribbling is always spectacular but other than that is rather below standard level. All three players are attacking midfielder as well as Savicevic who is a regular substitution. The team has many chances to beat Argentina but their players are lack of finishing skill. Note that the match against Argentina is my first ever football match watching.
Ireland : Only Paul Mcgrath is focused. He mainly plays as semi-right-back. Mcgrath is good in going forward. Unfortunately Match against Italy has a few chance to prove his defensive quality accurately.
Spain : The most benefit I get in the match is to know that I’m end of patience with Michel Gonzalez. Since 1984 Euro to 1990 World Cup, he makes too many non-value added passes.
Belgium : Enzo Scifo is an elegant playmaker with good acceleration and agility. He also possesses a great long-shot. His left-foot is anyway his weakness. Ceulemans is even more dangerous than him. Michael Preud’Homme is truly reliable. Only one thing that seems he is lack of confidence to make the accurate goal kick.
Holland : First of all, Van Basten doesn’t make too many mistake but he failed to create or meet important chances by his own sufficiently. Kohler once again lost penalty to him unnecessarily. While Van Basten failed, Gullit outstandingly carried the team. Holland is not inferior to West Germany until Rijkaard is sent off.
England : Gascoigne is very high talented playmaker with exceptional dribbling skill, is always stumble to watch and he is even great in defense, the scene he tackles Van Basten is very decisive. Although Linker is known as a great poacher, he is actually proficient in forward role, making many great dangerous crosses. Other than that, Waddle is very consistent winger with effective dribbling and crossing. Shilton is perfect in decision making and positioning although he become slow.
Italy : The most surprised thing is Baresi’s performance. Although Ireland has no world-class attackers, Baresi at the beginning of game is seen to have a problem in the basic situation. He mistakenly pass the ball to the area that is none of his teammate to possibly proceed. He lost ball possession when he tries to drib pass Irish attacker at the Italian backline, etc. In match against Argentina, he follows Caniggia with his highest speed and decide to tackle from the back but it is far to reach allowing Caniggia get into dangerous zone. Although he still play well in other area of responsibilities, it is still difficult to acknowledge his performance in world-class. Maldini in his young age is very reliable. Baggio is a star of the team but his performance in final match as a reserved player is unimpressive. Schillachi is always efficient. He elaborate in every step of playing. Zenga is always reliable until he is discredited for his slow motion in interception and Caniggia meet opportunity to score too easy.
Argentina : Maradona is extremely enthusiastic and energetic. He is a key player to lead the team beat Brazil, is the best match for him in this World Cup. From quarter-final to final, Maradona does not meet the opportunities from counter-attack likes match against Brazil, he get more difficult task. However, Maradona is always intelligent in surviving under pressure or he is also great tactically. Caniggia as one of the fastest player ever is very intimate with Maradona.
West Germany : Brehme consistently contributes a great curve crossing, is considered one of the best crossers ever alongside Beckham. He also very strong and shows decisive tackles. Matthaus is superb only in match against Yugoslavia. He is always effective in movement and organizing in semi-final and final but rarely shows amazing scenes. Klinsmamm meet many chances thanks ot his high work-rate and great speed but it is rather extravagant in overall. Aside from that, Kohler could be the best central defender of the tournament although he is too slow but his position is very great. Haesler is a high technical player at the semi-side area and make a good passing continuously. Voller is also very good as a target-man.
In conclusion, I rate Schillachi as the best player of the tournament. Second place is belonged to Matthaus. Maradona came to third. 4th belong to Brehme and 5th is Gascoigne.
Although the tournament is known as the lowest scoring ratio in history, the games is very high quality and entertaining. Exceptionally the final match is one of the most boring World Cup final matches ever.

1990s International Club Summary
In 1991 European Cup Final, Red Star Belgrade is much dependent on players's individual technique. Savicevic and Prosinecki struggles to beat Marseille defense particularly Basil Boli who is prominent in precised hard tackling. Prosinecki's technique is magnificent but his team work ability is poor. Although Papin won Ballon'Dor in 1991, he is rather not dangerous in the final match.
In 1992 European Cup Final, Michael Laudrup remains unfulfilled his potential. He is known to be overgenerous in some improper situations. He rarely shows his classy technique during the match Stoichkov mainly operates on the left wing where he performs great acceleration and accurate crosses by hid left consistently. Koemann is this match is very strong and establish himself in correct position, scoring the winning goal by free-kick. For Samdoria side, Pagliuca is a keeper who is relatively weak in goal kicking skill. Vierchowod is proved to be very tough, quickly moving from the back position of opponent to snatch the ball in front of them, is the most impressive scene.
In 1992 Intercontinental Cup, Rai's performance dominates the match. The scene he bounces the ball by his heel, his wonderful scoring by free-kick and his movement in midfield including impressive defense, concluding him as the very complete midfielders. Cafu is assigned in a right-side midfielder role, is another prominent Sao Paulo player. M.Laudrup once again failed to influence the team as he should have done.
In 1993 European Cup, both AC Milan and Marseille adopt offside-trap strategy resulting in discontinuity of the offensive game and the forwards like Van Basten, Papin and Voller meet a few chances to score. Van Basten and Papin are incomplete in physical condition, is one of the main reasons Milan failed to beat Marseille. Gianluigi Lentini is also disappointing. He is elegant and fast but poor in team work ability. The best player of Marseille side is seen to be Desailly who won the ball fairly in most times.
In 1993 Intercontinental Cup, AC Milan's reputable defensive line is questionable to be the best defensive line ever when concedes 3 goals to Sao Paulo. The first goal is conceded by loose position of Costacurta. The another two goals is directly caused by Albertini and Rossi respectively but before than that Panucci and Baresi allows Sao Paolo to meet the chances. Toninho Cerezo remains play well. He is one of the most successful south american players in international club, playing 2 European cup final and won 2 intercontinental cups.
In 1994 European Cup Final, Savicevic is a main actor of this match. He is always effective in dribbling, mainly in central area but later move wider to right-wing. He makes 1 amazing goal, 1 assist and 1 shot clashing pillar. Panuccu plays very well as left-back, his unusual position. Without Both Baresi and Costacurta, Barcelona fails to score any goal. The midfielders is not capable of supporting forward enough so Romario is successively failed but he is quite satisfied with only 2 obvious chances of assist and score.
I don't watch 1994 intercontinental cup full-match but I do watch highlight. Costacurta is responsible for both two conceding goals. The first one, he fouls and lost penalty unnecessarily. The second one is a awful mistake when he returned the ball to Rossi too slow.
The historical
international goal highlight summary
The related available international matches highlight apart from the 220 full-matches have been watched to monitor performance of assister, scorer and keeper.
I'm surprised that the 1924 Olympic games final match highlight between Uruguay and Switzerland is available with very high quality and long clip around 20 minutes. Jose Nasazzi is very great in positional standing and win in all aerial battles. The most valuable scene will be Jose Leandro Andrade who is questionable for a long- time if he is best at defensive midfielder or wing-back in nowadays. The scene he makes skillful slide tackle at the right-side defensive midfield area, is tend to conclude he is fit to wing-back position. I might transfer him to defender position accordingly. No special scene for Scarone regrettably.
The most clips in the pre-war era is awful in quality as the movement is unnaturally displayed in video. However, some matches are obvious enough. Leonidas Da Silva is very deadly striker with prominent powerful and shot. Although he played as inside-forward at early career, his style is very likely to be a target-man so I will move him to striker position. Gyorgi Sarosi is another player that I’m curious about his level. The 2 scenes he scores are not spectacular and no footage for his defensive skill to watch. Only 2 scenes to have watched Matthias Sindelar, He is really a withdrawn forward placing himself outside penalty area and his ball control is stumble. Giuseppe Meazza is amazing in dribbling speed with enthusiastic manner. He also shot the ball decisively. It is regrettable that the clip of the 1931 England versus Spain shows only 1 goal when Zamora conceded 7 goals to England. It is interesting to know how many of them is not his fault. The available video does not show his superb skill at all. Giampiero Combi is disappointing when his position, handling and interception all are not satisfied. I can find only 2 scoring scenes for Tommy Lawton and all are tapped to shot easily. Frank Swift is OK in general. There is no video clip of Rudolph Hiden to watch.
In the war-time era, La Maquina is mainly focused. The more videos of Jose Manuel Moreno have been available. The constituent of his skill is strange when he possesses both high physical strength and technical ability so his running is powerfully dangerous. Moreno style is more attacking-mind than playmaking with great off-the-ball movement. Few scene of Perdernera saw his great dribbling only. Labruna is very quick from left-side forward. There is no footage of Loustau, Martino and Pontoni found. Surprisingly, the long run video of Fernando Peyroteo has been available with very clear display. It is a new knowledge that his dribbling is in competitive level for striker position. He possesses high strength and great positional play but his shooting style is not spectacular at all. Regrattably Josef Bican footage is unavailable.
In the post-war era to mid-1950s, Valentino Mazzola is seen to be a great organizer in match against England. Ference Deak scored in torpedo heading style in Dr Gero Cup. Ademir scores most goals after he running with the ball, it seems he is not a kind of tapped player. Zizinho is phenomenally agile and he controls the ball smoothly sticky to his feet. Ernst Ocwirk is an impressive box-to-box midfielder who is really great in supporting forward area to score from the back-line. There is only one scene to watch Hanappi who make an accurate curve passing. Abe Lenstra is skillful in ball controlling, possessing powerful shooting and even great in air. Faas Wikes dribbling speed could be one of the best ever. In Yugoslavia golden generation, Vladimir Beara is one of best reflex savers ever with very agile movement. Although he conceded a ton of goals, all of his conceding goals are seen to be out of capability but there is no full-match to analyze his overall skill. Vukas is superb dribbler and he operates the game in both wing and central attacking midfield area. Tom Finney in a FA Cup final dominates in dribbling on right-wing, mainly great in speed of ball controlling. Nat Lofehouse dominates in air with very great positional play. Lorenzo Buffon is disappointing when he concedes goals with bad positional standing and not makes good decision. Carl Aage Praest dribbling and acceleration is spectacular and even contribute accurate crossing.

Goalkeeper
Bert Trautmann performance in two consecutive FA Cup final full-matches are monitored. He is looked agile and enthusiastic with his 34 years old. He is very good in positional play and very reliable overall.

Amadeo Carrizo is
matched lost Czechoslovakia 5-1 in the 1958 World Cup, is seen to be poor
performance in positioning and anticipation.
The British Home Championship video highlights are existed in every year Gordon Banks played for England. He several times is struggle to save the aerial passed ball, not jump high enough to reach and his body strength is another thing disadvantageous in aerial battle. Banks also like to stand on the goal line as safety first concept but the scene he allows the ball pass in the goal area just in front him without any pressure from opponent is just incredible.
In contrary to Gordon Banks, Patt Jennings has a sweeping-keeping style, like to go outside the goal area. I watch around 40 conceding goals of him, it is very rare to justify his mistake.
Jose Angel Iribar make an unforgivable mistake in 1968 Euro qualifying. He is expected to save the ball with his hand conveniently but the ball bounced his hand turn to clash the net. Aside from the mistake scene in 1984 Euro final, Arconada concedes many goals with his awful handling ability.
Dino Zoff concedes a ton of goals from long-shot because he decide to jump too late as if he is not sure about the ball direction.
There are also some scenes Peter Schmeichel is struggle in reading the game. With Denmark, he mistakes in anticipating the long pass direction similar to s scene he was notorious with man Utd.at UEFA Champion League. Some time he is too hurry in guessing the ball direction such as the scene he concedes a goal to Luis Enrique in 1996 Euro qualifying. However, his reflex saves and incredible high jumping in premier league have been imprinted to me.
Scorer
Most of Eduard Streltsov video highlight is in the late 1960s that is not his prime. Anyway some few scenes at his peak during the late 1950s saw his great ball controlling, acceleration and decisive shot.
Alberto Spencer is very complete striker and scores many spectacular goals. The most incredible one is the scene he start operate the game at right-side midfield area and then he a one-two 2 steps with great acceleration get through the dangerous zone and score achievably.
Kevin Keegan is great in aerial scoring with his heading ability as well as Boniek . As I criticize Dalglish in full-matches project, he makes a wonderful goal by dribbling pass 2 defenders and score to the top-corner, is just impressive.
I did not watch George Weah regularly when I was young and I doubt if he should be target man or second forward as he scores too few goals but now it has been clear he is best at target-man. At PSG, he scores most international goals in very short distance in front of the goal.
Van Basten is still worth to mention. Once he shot the ball while he is losing his balance due to being collided by opponent and his touching to shot is very technical and incredibly control trajectory of the ball to be a goal.
