European footballer of the year award. Yashin is known for his superior
athleticism, imposing stature, routine amazing reflex saves and inventing the
idea of goalkeeper sweeping. During his career, He had stopped around 150
penalty kick which is the best record of all-time. Moreover, Yashin made
incredible 270 clean sheets from approximately 420 career games played or
almost 65 percent. He is a five times Soviet goalkeeper of the year based on
analysis and the 1960s award. He was named in 1958 FIFA World Cup best XI by
Gabriel Hanot. He was also voted as 5th in Ballon d’Or in 1956, 1960 and 1961.
In 1994, FIFA established the Lev Yashin Award for the best goalkeeper in world
cup final tournament. Yashin was finished 8th in UEFA Jubilee Poll as the best
European footballer in the last 50 years. For his outstanding service to the
people and to his country, Yashin was awarded the Order of Lenin in 1967, the
highest award of the USSR. After retiring from playing Yashin spent almost 20
years in various administrative positions at Dynamo Moscow. A Bronze statue of
Lev Yashin was erected at the Dynamo Stadium in Moscow.

6. Gordon Banks
Why you put Buffon in fourth place and Banks in third place here? In "The 100 Greatest Goalkeepers of All-Time" Buffon is third and Banks fourth. Also you put Buffon in the king silver class and Banks in the king bronze class.
ReplyDeleteSorry that had not been updated linked from the main list.
ReplyDeleteNow I have made a linkage between lists to ensure each update will cover its involvements
Now it's a high time to name Manuel Neuer in top 50. He is rated by kicker in 2 world-class seasons with 5 international-class seasons. Neuer was very successful in UEFA Champion eague in consecutive four seasons and is the best keeper in 2014 World Cup. I've named him at 47th at the first consideration.
ReplyDeletewhere are guys like kasey keller, thoman n kono?
ReplyDeleteN'Kono is named in top 100 which is available in the 10 x 100 positional ranking list in minor hall of honor. Kasey Keller is not even one of the best keepers in the world in his generation.
DeleteGordon Banks should be 2nd, he is Ranked 2nd in IFFHS Ranking(you said it's your main source)
ReplyDeleteGordon Banks also Ranked 2nd in this site http://www.bestfootballplayersever.com/top-10-best-football-goalkeepers-ever.php
Gordon Banks Won the Yashin Award in 1966 beating Yashin himself(who had a great World cup)
Roberto Rivellino has said that Banks is the greatest Goalkeeper of all time because of his save of the century from Pele's header
I never said IFFHS is my main source. I establish an article of IFFHS because it is considered as the largest and least unofficial football history organization. As I look for the provided link, I’d not hesitate not to rely on them because it is tend to overrate players in the modern era (includes other positions). Casillas is one of the most decorated goalkeepers ever but his pure ability is definitely not among the best ever. Gordon Banks is very disadvantageous to Dino Zoff because he played in small club and lack of opportunity in European club competition. The book "Best of Charles Buchan's Football Monthley shows Gordon Banks was voted in top ten best English Top Division players twice in 1965 – 1966 and 1968 – 1969 http://forums.bigsoccer.com/threads/english-league-team-of-the-season-selections-1969-2012.1985741/ He was also named as the best keeper of English top division between 1969 – 1970 from these sources http://forums.bigsoccer.com/threads/1969-70-british-team-of-the-season.1794502/, http://forums.bigsoccer.com/threads/team-of-the-season-1970-1980-england-division-one.1820483/
DeleteIn domestic summary, He is at least five times best keeper of the English top division.
Internationally, Banks start to caps for England rather late at 25 years old and made 10 consecutive years of caps. Thus, his longevity is much shorter than Dino Zoff who was capped for 16 consucutive years although he is clearly better than Zoff in World Cup tournaments but Zoff also has a better performance in European Championship.
Casillas has 71 Clean Sheets (more than any Goalkeeper ranked ahead of him) and he has a great longevity, and he plays for a major club so I think that he should be ranked higher.
ReplyDeleteCasillas has a better clean sheet record than Buffon and Gordon Banks but has a lower ability than them as the best example. Because Spain always won high percent of ball possession, he has a less opportunity to save the ball and I think his decline as a second choice keeper is a big flaw. At his 33 - 34 years old, it should been a great years of experienced goalkeeper.
DeleteNow Casillas is holding the record goalkeeper with most clean sheets, most victories in Champions League, that will be a bonus for him?
ReplyDeleteThanks for updating important record, I'll add in his profile.
DeleteWhat? i´m just really surprised that Vitor Baia is not on this list, its just outrageous, did somebody check on his achievements?
ReplyDeleteHe is arguably the best Portuguese keeper ever. Anyway, Baia has never been one of the top keepers in the World in any year not likes all keepers in top 50. His best rank in IFFHS is at 5th in 1996.
DeleteVitor Baía is one of the most titled players in the world! He has won 32 titles (i think only Giggs have more), and in 2003/2004 FC Porto won the Champions League and Baía won the UEFA Best Goalkeeper award.
ReplyDeleteYou should take all this in consideration because he surely deserves a spot between your top 50, not to say top 25.
This list is a euro circle jerk. Ignoring so much talent from all over the world. More so it looks like an old melancholic english man did it.
ReplyDeleteThis list is not ranked based on talent but the performance in term of both effectiveness and difficult style of play. I’m not sure if you means the South American magician likes Gatti, Campos and Hugita. If yes, this kind of talent did not much contribute to their teams, it is just an aesthetic value.
DeleteI think that Franjo Glaser has to be in the Substitution Group.
ReplyDeleteWhere is this channel4 you so often talk about?
ReplyDeleteThe site has been closed fort a long time. At the time of existence, it shows all-time XI of famous Series A clubs, being voted by journalists. There was an all-time greatest goalkeepers list in history of Series A also.
DeleteHi Dearman,
ReplyDeleteAfter I cross-checked your database, I found something inconsistent in this section. In section "World's All-Time Greatest Footballers", Kahn placed 86th, Zamora placed 98th; however, in this section, Kahn placed 8th, Zamora placed 7th.
Hope this help you to review & adjust. Best regards,
I would debate that Kasey Keller was in the top 20 of this class. When the list includes several goalies who were playing in very weak leagues and won nothing to speak of, Keller won Cup titles in England, Germany and the USA. he also, played part in 2 World Cups and the Gold Cup winner in Concacaf.
ReplyDeleteTo be fair, some on that list were lucky to be called professional. Spain won nothing in the 1970's for club or country.
Keller was very reliable keeper and regarded by many as the best USA greatest keeper ever. He was rated by Kicker in twice international class seasons during his career at Bundesliga but he is rated very low by English media in premier league, best at only 6.31 in average point per season. The trophy is not a main issue to rate player. There are very many lower class players ever won premier league. There were a ton of keepers better than Keller during 90s to 2000s. Some keepers are semi-professional or even amateur status in the beginning era of football in the developing phase of many competitions in Europe and South America. Hence, those statuses of competition were very normal for that era with some high level of standard. They made the truly remarkable in their own era is an important figure of historical value saving.
DeleteGIGI BUFFON SHOULD BE SECOND OR FIRST
ReplyDeletePetr Cech - Goalkeeper with record Premier League all time most clean sheets!
ReplyDeleteWhat about Vitor Baia??!?!
ReplyDeleteWhat about Anton "Toni" Turek? World Cup Winner with Germany in 1954!
ReplyDeleteThe majority of his career was interrupted by World War II and the longevity is much below than average.
DeleteGianluigi Needs His Name Updated, It Is Spelt "Gianuigi Buffon"
ReplyDeleteSorry I'm not clear for your question.
ReplyDeleteThis is nitpicking, but do you realise you haven't even mentioned Neuer's World Cup victory in his description? Given that it was one of the most memorable goalkeeping performances of all time (for his sweeper keeping role, which has never before been performed to such success in a major tournament) I think it deserves a mention.
ReplyDeleteSorry for late replying. You have issued the important point. I'll review the articles again when I have time. Thanks.
DeleteNeuer above Casillas , and Casillas only at 12??? Casillas is rated by many as the greatest goalkeeper in football history
ReplyDeletehttp://www.football-bible.com/soccer-info/top-10-goalkeepers-of-all-time.html
http://www.totalsportek.com/list/greatest-goalkeepers-of-all-times/
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1516455-25-greatest-goalkeepers-in-football-history/page/26
These are the first 3 websites when you google "greatest goalkeeper of all time".
It is absolutely imposible for him to be outside top 5 ever given how he performed throughout his career , and if someone feels like underrating him because of the drop in form of recent years , he must consider that he is the ultimate GK prodigy so he already stacked up an incredible amount of great seasons.
What are Schmeichel and Khan doing above Casillas?
Casillas ranking in top GK of the year:5th-2000 , 9th-2001 , 2nd-2002 , 2nd-2003 , 4th-2004 , 6th-2005 , 4th-2006 , 3rd-2007 , 1th-2008 , 1th-2009 , 1th-2010 , 1th-2011 , 1th-2012 , 6th-2013 , 9th-2016
Khan:9th-1997 , 10-1998 , 1th-1999 , 2nd-2000 , 1th-2001 , 1th-2002 , 3rd-2003 , 6th-2004 , 5th-2005 , 11/12th-2006
Schmeichel:1th-1992 , 1th-1993 , 4th-1994 , 2nd-1995 , 4th-1996 , 3rd-1997 , 4th-1998 , 2nd-1999 , 10/11th-2000 , 11/12th-2001
So basically if you compare head to head , Casillas is by far better than both of them with none of the 2 being able to claim any victory in any season by aranging from best to worst.
No matter what other criterias involved or even if in various seasons the performance of those were still better than the number in the rankings , Casillas is just to visibly superior to them to be ranked bellow.
I suggest you rank him at least 3rd bellow Yashin and Buffon.
DeleteI see Casillas prolifically won IFFHS world best keeper as a beneficial subsequent from Spain’s consecutive 3 tournaments winners and he played well although not in the level of superb when he got a fewer chances to show his ability when Spain always dominated the ball possession.
At his peak, he was seen to be inferior to Kahn and Neuer. He was a reliable reader to the opponent offensive direction but his agile shot-stopping is performed well in only radius closed to him. I saw too many conceding goals that he could not reach the ball disappointingly despite not very powerful and accurate shot.
Look at his club career, He was never chosen as a UEFA club best keeper in the 2000s (Awards was available until 2010) despite Real Madrid got into deep rounds. Then, 2011 should be missed when Van Der Sar is clearly better. 2012 should be given to Petr Cech. Since then he was highly declined. So it could be said he never reached the best keeper of UCL despite having the most often opportunities among any other.
Domestically, LFP Awards was started in 2009 and Casillas won Best keeper of the La Liga just twice times and he won Zamora Trophy in 2008. Before than that, it was not period of his prime.
The competitiveness of GK candidates between era is just different so I don’t think the IFFHS ranking could be compared between the years directly. I means the years Shcmeichel, Kahn and Neuer won the awards all had a better performance than Casillas in example.
Casillas' awards aren't advantaged due to competition compared to the others(especially Neuer) , he even was 6 times best keeper according to UEFA and he faced at least as tough competition as the others with keepers like Buffon , Neuer , Khan , Vander Sar , Cech etc. For example if not for one of the greatest performances ever of a keeper , he would have been no.1 in 2002.
ReplyDeleteAnd Casillas' flaw was more evident in last years but not so much in his prime , but even so the others are no better. Schmeichel was known for being very weak against chips and was lobed countless times in his career.

And these are only a few that I can remember but he was a shameless keepr when it came to these situations. So I don't see how Schmeichel could possibly be better when comparaed with Casillas.
Or Neuer who also wasn't chalenged as a keeper. Neuer is the keepr who made the least amount of saves per game this Budesliga season and outside of the top 20 in this EURO ALONE , haha!
Drawing the line , Casillas should be alongside Buffon and Yashin for his impecable career. No one was ever perfect , they all had their flaws.
I’d not decide the entire performance from a random clip since I watched Schmeichel and Casillas played more than the random set of video clips. Casillas didn’t dominate the defensive line as Schmeichel did. I never saw Casillas save the high ball direct to the top corner and his conceding goal to South Africa at the 2009 Confederation Cup is proved that he is not good enough.
DeleteThat wasn't just a ranom clip tough. If you really seen him regularly than you know he had a huge flaw getting lobbed... So I don't know why Casillas having a flaw makes him an inferior keeper when he pretty much has a more outstanding career otherwise.
DeleteI’m not sure if you understand the word “Random”. Casillas played several hundred games in his entire career and you refer to Videos that collected only sampling of his great scenes. I’d not make a further discussion as long as you still just based on Videos sampling.
DeleteThose videos are of Schmeichel getting lobed , not great scenes of Casillas.
DeleteActually Schmeichel’s mistake has been well-known and not need to access to Videos but I think Casillas also made many mistakes.
DeleteNo further toughts on this?
ReplyDeleteSorry, recently quite busy, I'll reply you tomorrow.
DeleteNeuer has to be Queen Gold Class.
ReplyDeleteEmerson Leão from Brazil played 4 World Cups and his position is 41?
ReplyDeleteMichel Preud Homme his position 25 ?
Ubaldo Fillol 11?
Do you know about Rodolfo Rodriguez from Uruguai and Santos F.C?
And Zetti goalkeeper fron Brazil and twice World Champion by São Paulo F.C?
Do you know about Raul Plassmann Goalkeeper from Flamengo World Champion in 1981?
Please correct your list, is too wrong.
Do you think that Buffon will surpass Zoff if he plays until the 2018 World Cup?
ReplyDeleteIt is depend on his performance. If any more international-class season would be achievable, he will surpass by then.
DeleteGreat ranking but i think you got it wrong with buffon, im sure you seen him at his prime and his peak was higher than any other goalkeeper ever.
ReplyDeleteIm absolutely sure you are one of the few in the World who thinks zoff was better
Birthdate for Heinrich Stuhlfauth is wrong. Should be 1896, not 1986.
ReplyDeleteBuffon is two times in the list. Please fix that.
ReplyDeleteThe Highest Goalkeeper's Peaks of All-Time list is flawed I think.
ReplyDeleteWhy is Trautman above Khan when the later was ranked 3rd and 2nd at the Ballon d'Or in 2 consecutive years and is the noly keeper in history to be World Cup MVP.
Why is Zamora above Buffon? What more should have Buffon done to be considered the best since Yashin? Many experts describe him as the perfect goalkeeper.
Most importantly, what is Beara doing in the ranking. I assume it is mostly because Yashin praised him(same with Trautman probably), but Beara's peak is genereally agreed to be 1952 when he reached the Olympic Games Final in Finland. In that tournament, Romanian goalkeeper Ion Voinescu was praised by the Finish press as "The World's best goalkeeper", and he isn't even ranked in your top 100 if I remember corectly. I think you should include him btw.
Instead of Beara, Iker Casillas should be named in since he is the most consecutive times named best in the world in the position and was one of the highest players of his generation at the ballon d'or rankings despite being a goalkeeper.
OK the list of highest peak has not been developed well so the debate is highly opened.
DeleteI agree Trautmann is overrated since he has never played in international football and I have replaced him by Neuer.
Beara was not in his peak during 1952 but his peak is known as an phenomenon save. I'll keep Voinescu for further study.
Buffon should be first in this list, it´s obvious you are and expert of football so you know he deserved ballon d,or in 2006.
ReplyDeleteHes the most complete and consistent goalkeeper ever & in his prime he was a monster, the greatest footballers to ever play vs him, rank him as the best they have faced(roberto carlos, zidane, ibrahimovic, ronaldinho, ronaldo nazario, etc) and they are not italians.
Dino Zoff is considered the 2nd best goalkeeper of the pat century, buffon is universally seen as better than zoff, so i dont really see how lev yashin was better in any way.
Buffon without doubt didn't deserved to be even in top 3 in 2006. Cannavaro, Ronaldinho and Henry were all clearly better. Others had as good a case as him like Zidane, Pirlo, Eto, Kaka just to name a few.
DeleteBuffon is rated in dbscalcio at only 6.08 in avearage of 2005 to 2006 season when he played only 18 games.
DeleteYashin is also consistent through his domestic career although his longevity is shorter. Yashin is slightly inferior to Buffon in reading the game but the shot-saving is not even comparable, possessing a higher jump and handling ability and well-known for his usual phenomenon saves. Buffon has a problem to save a high ball direct to the top corner where he never reached if not just close to his position because of his limited jumping ability.
ReplyDeleteI totally respect your opinion and your list because for what i seen here, you totally know what you're talking about but i'll give you some points.
ReplyDelete1-Buffon played at a way better league than Yashin, URSS was a great national team in the mids of the last century but the league has been always average.
2-Actually buffon was able to save a ball right to the corner when he was young, specially in his parma days, if you doubt it, check this out.
https://youtu.be/1S1iZSdDEM8
3-Buffon keeps getting individual awards as the best in the world even in his 40's(in fact you need to add them to his profile by the way)
In this case, I think USSR league standard during Yashin era is not the case of Yashin performance. Lower league standard still allow goalkeeper to have a difficult task.
DeleteThe video clip is really enjoyable. Let me questionable why he was declined in this characteristic performance later. In this scene, his jump is still not as high as Yashin.
I'm not understand the relation between the 1940s and Buffon ?
Serie A is one of the best and most difficult leagues to play the game.
DeleteMost of ballon D´Or winners have came from there and even though Spain has been dominating the football for almost a decade, Italy is atleast the 3rd best league currently.
Of course it has a lot to do where you play to rate your level and value as a footballer, in that case, we would have this raking full of unknown footballers scoring 100 goals by year in Qatar or egyptian goalkeepers being first choice at their national teams at the age of 44.
If Gianluigi Buffon moved to a russian team, he could play until his 50s.
About his Diving,I think buffon didn,t decline that much in that characteristic, he jsut changed his way to play, less scenic but more effective thats why you wont see anyone scoring a savable goal right to the corner to him, when he needs to fly, he do it, just look at him saving a ball right to the corner in this short clips.
He was almost 31 years old here.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBvSl2Q23AY
32 years old here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nVDFwieGz4
Almost 37 years old here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkMtlzK-wWo
What i meant in my last post about "buffon in his 40s"
is that even though he is turning 40 years old, he still gets the most important individual awards as the best in the world you need to update your rating and add them to his profile.
Finally, i think yashin is a legend and one of the best ever, probably this wont change your mind and im not trying to do that but im showing you how yashin was not superior to buffon in any way, so you can get your conclusions.
Cheers and well done, you have a cool website.
Recently I have watched many important full-games of Lev Yashin and I affirm Yashin is clearly better. He is superb in anticipating the direction of the shot ball, making some phenomenon saves.
DeleteYou gotta add all the new individual honours Buffon won during 2017.
DeleteOK I will.
DeleteWhere is Barthez?
ReplyDeleteDo you think than Buffon can be the number one in this list in the future? Or at least be in the king silver class like Yashin?
ReplyDeleteNow he is clearly to end his career soon so what I expect about him ? He is too far to reach Yashin level.
DeleteLol it´s respected if you think the russian is better than buffon but you sound like a fanboy when you say "he is too far too reach yashin´s level"
Deleteobviously you have in a pedestal someone who played 50 years ago with semiprofesional footballers and from who you didn´t even watch a single complete game but ok this is your website, say whatever you want.
Actually I have been doing the skill evaluation project where I watched around 4 full-matches of Lev Yashin. You can read about my impression on him and the progression of project in http://xtraimmortal.blogspot.com/2014/02/Skill-Evaluation.html
DeleteWhat do you think about Yashin's performances in World Cup tournaments? I've heard that he wasn't usually at this best then, especially in 1962.
ReplyDeleteI watched him and I never saw his mistake in world cup. In 1966, He even made a miracle save stopping Seeler shot in match against Germany.
DeleteOk. He usually gets blamed for the two Chile goals in their 2-1 loss in the 1962 quarterfinals. Though the second one seems harsh to blame on the keeper.
DeleteAlso sometimes gets faulted for conceding directly from a corner kick in that 4-4 vs Colombia though watching the video clearly shows that it's completely the defender's fault.
Oliver Kahn was individually brillant, and I think that's what those lists should reflect. Since we all know how Buffon is rated, this site being no exception, and I sure as hell remember and still know that Kahn was the better one, I put Kahn at 2nd place in my all time goalkeeper list (because overwhelming Yashin perception as number one seems not to need much opposition for now).
ReplyDeleteI genuinely think Kahn should've won Ballon d'Or in 2001. You look at all this Figos, Rauls, Zidanes and what not, but you have to ask yourself a question - where are the players from the team that actually won the double that season in all those shortlists? Were they that much of extremely good collective that we shouldn't even consider one of the players for individual win? I think not, you can clearly see it when you look at their team then - Kahn, Effenberg, Elber and Scholl. Latter two being good players, but by no means regarded as highly as some competition from the time. Besides that some dependable well regarded players of Andersson caliber etc. So why did they win the freakin double? Well, someone must be "responsible" for this result.
If it had happened (Kahn winning the ballon dor), he propably would be regarded higher now, but these awards like always skew public perception and write false history of the sport. I suspect that "circular reporting" problem connected with Ballon dor throughout the years (especially early ones due to lack of footage) is the biggest problem of them all in player evaluation like the one presented on your blog.
Kahn's peak is very competitive among legendary group. Unfortunately, he inconsistently participated with Germany as the existence of comtemporary world-class German keepers, Kopke. If consider only Peak, you can see I name him in top 10. I think Buffon is almost perfect in reading the game. Kahn is very good but not close to Buffon level.
DeletePhrasing it "not close" just screams ingorance to me. That is not true, I watched them back to back in early 2000's and it's simply jarring to dismiss it like that
DeleteAnd for Kopke: so what? Kahn was better at the turn of the century than Kopke ever was anyway. In peak you name him even further than in general list, and it doesn't make any sense to me. Do you honestly think that Mazurkiewicz and Beara are better than Kahn in 2000-2002? I highly doubt that
I think the peak of Mazurkiewicz and Beara is slightly superior to Kahn. Both are much more agile and better in reflex saving although Kahn is more reliable in reading the game. For me, I think Buffon is almost perfect in anticipation and the to cut the ball and superb hanral handling ability. As I saw Kahn in several scenes, he more often choosed to stay on the goal line instead of deciding to leave the area.
DeleteNeuer has to be in the Queen Gold Class now.
ReplyDeleteVan Beveren on 39 spot? Give me a break...
ReplyDeleteFabien Barthez ladies and gentleman.
17 appearances at the World Cup (French NT highest) with 10 clean sheets
European Championship 2000, World Cup 98 winner and silver medal in 2006, almost one decade as a first choice for France. Isn't it enough in comparision to Van Beveren for esample?
I think it is simple to understand clean sheet of Barthez is highly attributable to world-class french defenders. As football allows only one goalkeeper for a team on the pitch, I think limitation of opportunity in international games mustbe taken into account. That's why Van Baveren who is far better than Barthez in domestic football, could be rated higher than Barthez.
DeleteVan Beveren is considered the best keeper of the Netherlands ever. Top players who played against him in that time said they never seen any better. Barthez is nowhere near his quality.
DeleteHe won the Champions League with Marseille, was champion with ManUtd, Marseille, Monaco, best goalkeeper of the year in 2000 according to IFFHS, best goalkeeper of a World Cup (1998).
DeleteVitor Baia, is the Goalkeeper with more titles in football history, and the only goalkeeper that won all UEFA international competitions Champions League, Cup Winners Cui, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Supercup and Intercontinental UEFA/CONNMBOL Cup. At his time with was a record transfer for goalkeeper from FCPORTO to FC BARCELONA. Have Record more then 300 clean sheets, 1192min without suffering goals in a row, and is not in Top 50 !!! Maybe you should watch football instead of blog about football.
ReplyDeleteYou have to study and found that there many others better record than Baia but they are just average goalkeeper because their team's defensive ability and/or ball possession dominated. The best example might be Sabastiano Rossi.
DeleteBarthez : world cup 1998, euro 2000, champions league 1993.....where is Barthez?
ReplyDeleteHe played well in these tournaments but his club career is far from bein recognized as a legend.
DeleteI don´t see how Yashin could be better than Buffon.
ReplyDeleteBuffon played in a more competitive football, better league, 25 years at the elite, more individual awards and he was world champion being the best of his team.
It´s pretty reckless to rate Yashin as the best goalkeeper of the history only despite you can´t even find 5 full games of him, while you can rate Buffon watching more than 1000 full games.
neur just won a champions league same as lewandowski
ReplyDeleteThe numbers of yashin are very liar
ReplyDelete420 games he saved 150 penalties?
There's no video proving it, it's a lie
Neur is the best of all times he revolutionized football and the way goalkeepers play today
Neuer revolutionized nothing, the sweeper keeper role is not his creation nor did he perfect it. FIFA official website re-enforce the 150 penalty save stament it is true you just choose to remain ignorant.
DeleteThis is maybe the position where the competitveness of the period is probably not an argument.
ReplyDeleteAt the time of Yashin there were much more goals and he had a lot to do and the fact he had been able to be that good and clean in this period is absolutely comparable to nowadays keeper.
Nevertheless even if he was one of the first keeper to be decent with ball on feet owe can not say on this part he was as good as Neuer on this part.
Barthez deserves to be there in my opinion, he was great in nearly every tournament for France (ask Brazilians Ronaldo..) . He also proved he could be the keeper of a club like united after his success in france. If a player like him is not in top 50...
ReplyDeleteTotally agreed.
Deletehello!
ReplyDeleteI would like to add that Peter Schmeichel was not only Goalkeeper of the tournament in euro1992, but he was Player of the tournament, which is a huge award for a GK, only achieved by him and Donnarumma. Considering the amazing players that were playing in euro1992, like Gullit, Rijkaard, Van Basten, Matthaus etc, this award is magnificent.
Donnarumma won the player of the tournament award for euro2021,
ReplyDeleteif he gets a high place in the ballon d'or '21, will it be enough to enter the top100 of goalkeepers?
Modern goalkeeper with long consistent world class performances are underrated. Too few modern keepers in this list. De Gea, Oblak, Handanovic and Julio Cesar Soares should be in the top 50. They are comparable to Ravelli, Kopke etc.
ReplyDeleteCould you give me the sources where you get this information? Like where did you get that Shilton was the best European goalkeeper of 89 and Dasayev the best European goalkeeper of 82, 83, 85 and 88?
ReplyDeleteDo you know other tops that are just as good as the ones you make? the only top that is up to the ones you do and that is not updated is the one from Glavisted that is in Spanish

I think that Valdes is better than Zubizareta and Ramallets. He is the best goalkeeper in Barcelona's history. Ramallets and Zubizarreta they had their mistakes just like Valdes, but Valdes has more titles than those two and was just as important for Barcelona. The only one who could be above Valdes would be Ramallets, since he had a great World Cup in 1950 and the performance in the national team has a plus, but I am sure that if Valdes had not been born in the time of Casillas and had had the opportunity to demonstrate his level in the national team, he would be above Ramallets. I think that above Zubizarreta is something that has no discussion.
ReplyDeleteNeuer ist the greatest of all time.
ReplyDeleteWhy?
DeleteNeuer has surpassed all frauds ahead of him
ReplyDeleteNeuer has surpassed all frauds ahead of him.
ReplyDeleteAccording to your rankings in " The 9X100 Positional Ranking" and "The Player Performance Evaluation ", Neuer has to be in the 4th spot now.
ReplyDeleteSuper découverte. Bravo.
ReplyDeletehow about a section under greatest goalkeeper peaks, with top10 legendary greatest goalkeeper performances? which is the best performance of a goalkeeper in a match?
ReplyDeleteLloris must be rated in my opinion. Same for Barthez that has always been great when it counted.
ReplyDeleteNeuer is by far better than the other frauds
ReplyDeletePlease update Neuer's trophies and individual awards. He has won the IFFHS World GK of the Year award 5 times, not 4. Also he has won more league titles and DFB Pokals by now.
ReplyDeleteNeuer is in the 5th position here, but according to your rankings has to be in the 4th position.
ReplyDeleteI think Edwin Van Der Sar is a much better keeper than that. I think he should be in the top ten at least
